F32 Significant Negative Camber After Curb Strike
I got cut off by a driver and had to swerve and avoid leading to contact with a curb, My front right wheel hit the curb at approx 25-30mph and scuffed it up real good. I noticed that the steering wheel is around 15 degrees offset to the left when tracking straight and there is much more camber on the passenger where I hit compared to the driver.
Just want some insight on what I should be expecting repair wise. picture 2 and 4 are the Non Damaged, Driver Side for comparison. |

That type of accident can unfortunately destroy the steering rack, and the damage sometimes isn't obvious. I'd definitely make sure that part is inspected carefully.

Just updating this post,
Got the car into a shop and found no suspension damage. However looks like the subframe has shifted slightly causing a 2 degree camber in the front right wheel. |

Sorry to here that.
About two months after I got my 440i up and running, my cousin tapped a curb with the front-left. Required the strut assembly, hub bearing, knuckle assembly replaced. Cost (him) two grand for whole repair... |

Contact insurance and file it as a hit and run. Technically, a "miss and run" is still a hit and run because the other driver violated your right of way and you had to make a dangerous maneuver to avoid hitting them.

There is no damage to any other components and everything is straight, like new. I guess the way I hit the curb it caused all the impact to go in sideways towards the subframe and shift it over. Taking it to bmw next week to get a collison analysis and see if I need to go through insurance or not |

Still possibly considering this however it has been past the 48 hours you usually have to report it. I did have a hit and run on my other vehicle around 8 years ago so don’t know if it’ll look bad on my record and cause insurance to still go up. Insurance is the worst thing here in Ontario. |

Just got the quote back from BMW,
Needs around $13k in parts and 5000 is from a new rack and pinion which is recommended from bmw when a wheel is hit from the side to change it out. Also $2500 for two new wheels which can be negated. Labour is around 23 hours @180. |

Submit an insurance claim for sure. Maybe get a quote from a BMW independent shop as well.
Yes, anytime you hit a wheel that hard into a curb, you should replace it. |

I tallied up a new list and it came out to around $4000cad inc a new strut and spring assembly, found a set of all 4 for $500 and getting those instead. All in all should expect the repair to be $4000cad inc labour once I'm done sourcing the parts. |

If Ontario is as strict as California on this matter, it won't hurt to contact insurance. |

Just looking for a bit more advice regarding this situation.
So the BMW dealership advised that all the front and rear right suspension components have to be replaced including the steering rack because its bulletin if the wheel is hit bmw advises to change, but the rack seemed to have no issues, the quote came out to around 10k excluding new oem rims which will just be swapped for a new set off of marketplace. My question is that, the front right has the negative camber, and there is no damage to the subframe according to the bmw tech. So, what parts should I change? there is no way every single part was damaged from this hit. I believe that I should change out the strut, tie rods, wishbone, and install new bolts for the one time use and reuse the ones that I can, I am pretty familiar with the mechanics of the suspension and can replace most of this on my own without having to take it to a shop. Only thing I would need to get done is the alignment. Any advice regarding this would be great. Much appreciated. |

$2,500 for the wheels, I'm sorry what?
I have the same wheels, with near similar damage. If you find a good rim repair, just take it there. $120 and your wheel will look fine. You (or I) are not keeping this car for life, nor is it a classic collectible. The steering rack, again, it's likely unaffected, and it's an unnecessary cost tacked on for "assurance purposes". Change out the basic suspension components, balance & align, and see where things stand after that. |

Yes they quoted $1344 for each RIM. Classic stealership move. Taking it to another Indy shop tomorrow, bearing most definitely has to be changed as there is a slight whirring noise occurring at 70kmh. Other than that I believe strut, control arm, tie rod and wishbone is where I will be beginning with. My only concern is that the steering wheel is 1/4 crooked while going straight and I’m sure it has to do something with the electronic steering endpoints being messed up from the collision. |

Finally got my car back,
I was not going to spend 10k+ and replace every single component. Took it to a reputed indy shop, had the front strut and knuckle replaced as well as alignment done. All in all, was a $1500 job + New rims. |
