This is how our new and 'improved' Stage 2 tune looks like:

Some MGFlasher App screenshots:

Between creating our flashing tool, to extensively testing our performance software on our in-house dyno, we had our work cut out for us. For starters we purchased a brand new F30 340i B58 with MPPSK which we used to develop our solution for programming. Day in and day out, tirelessly for the last seven months we worked towards unlocking the SPC5777M MCU that runs the DME861.

Our tester car had MPPSK software equipped on it to begin with. We decided to flash/downgrade our 340i with non MPPSK (stock non-performance software) and establish a baseline. From this stock (non-performance) flash we began our research and development. Analyzing and studying software documents along with a multitude of test runs and extensive data logging on both the dyno and the road enabled us to deliver you our end product. A product that does not just focus on maximum power but also reliability and ensures longevity of your vehicle and its components.

Our facility is equipped with a V-Tech dynamometer, that provides us with very accurate and realistic graphs and numbers. All our dyno runs will be displayed in horsepower/torque @ the crankshaft, the same as how BMW rates their engines. We did not apply any smoothing options to our dyno diagrams.

For a point of reference, displayed will be the power output of both Original and MPPSK software based off our measurement of them on our dyno. This can give you an idea of the exact delta gain of our software vs the various stages of what is considered stock software.

ORIGINAL: 343hp 360 ftlb / 488NM @ Crank
MPPSK: + 40hp + 34 ftlb (383hp/395ftlb / 535NM @ Crank)

Our offered solutions are available in the following stages and will be available as OTS maps which will be programmable through our MG flasher:

STAGE 1: + 69hp + 63ftlb / 85NM Torque (412hp 423ftlb / 573NM @ Crank)
A great, entry level software flash designed for all stock components and 91 Octane or greater. This software is intended to be a step up from BMW Performance Software (MPPSK), which reduces the torque spikes, increases power and smooths out the overall powerband. You will notice an increase in responsiveness as well as drivability.

Technical Information:
Boost Pressure: 16 PSI (1.1 Bar)

Options
Exhaust Burble
Cold Start Delete
Display NBT HP/TQ gauges calibration

STAGE 2: +99hp +118ftlb (442hp 478ftlb / 648NM @ Crank)
For the spirited driver that wants the most out of their stock component vehicle. This software is intended to safely maximize your vehicle’s potential performance. The power curve has been delicately engineered to eliminate any dips in the overall powerband as well as maximizing delivery of that power throughout the entire RPM range. Designed to work with 93/94 Octane for best results.
*Transmission Tuning Recommended* - See technical information for more.

Technical Information:
Boost Pressure: 19 PSI (1.3 Bar)

Options
Exhaust Burble
Cold Start Delete
Display NBT HP/TQ gauges calibration

Transmission Limiter Information:
The 340i is equipped with an 8HP50 transmission where the factory torque limiter is set to 550NM which is roughly 400ftlb tq @ the crank. For the best results and proper smoothing of the torque curve without any transmission related torque intervention we have found that is best to increase the limiter within the transmission software. We can present you with two options to implement this on your vehicle.

Option 1: Lifting the limiter in the transmission ECU which can be done for example with xHP Flashtool - based on information from their Facebook Page the flashing possibility arriving soon.
Option 2: Bringing the car to our shop for reprogramming of the transmission ECU

STAGE 3: +XX HP + XX Torque (Actual Dyno Numbers @ Crank) – in development
This software will be intended for those of you who will modify their exhaust by fitting either a catless downpipe or a downpipe fitted with a high flow catalytic converter. We will be fitting our tester vehicle with both options, analyze the pros and cons of either and will soon have a solution released after extensive testing on both the dyno and road.

Below will be examples of our dyno and logs from our research and development:

ST1 vs stock

Basic log ST1 here https://datazap.me/u/mgflasher/st1b58?log=0&data=9

· ST1 vs MPPSK vs stock

ST2 vs stock

Basic log for ST2 here https://datazap.me/u/mgflasher/st2b58?log=0&data=9

Now, enjoy some eye candy!

Just a teaser of MG Flasher in action:

Sorry i meant stage 3 with the exhaust modification.
Has the fuel system been tweaked around so you can run a more ethanol mix safely?

I'm more interested in awhp and torque dyno numbers. If I do the usual 0.85 * crank hp/torque, these don't compare favorably to Mission Performance. This is assuming there is a 15% drivetrain loss.
I also know you can't compare dyno to dyno, but rather take the deltas into consideration. Still, I'd like to see something to give me an idea of what the car will put down to the concrete.

MG flasher - mobile App for B58 Fxx/Gxx tuning

Congrats on offering another solid option!

So to eliminate torque intervention for driveability purposes, we have to get xHP flash tool? Is this additional cost to the tune?

This is probably a stupid question and unrealistic, but is a burble tune offered separately or do you have to get the main tune for that to be an option? And also where could I get some pricing info?

Thanks!

There’s no magic bullet to make power that any company is going to come up with to have an advantage over the others. Boost, timing, A/F ratios are where the power lies and all will make similar power. At the end of the day, it’s best practice to pick the company with the best customer service. By next spring PTF will have released BM3 for this platform and MHD will be in the game as well. Then pricng will get competitive and the cream will rise to the top.

No issues at all with your F22 M240i - the same DME8.6 ECU with same hardware - there is some data software difference. We have most of the newest software versions/calibration.

Thank you very much for your response. Just as you said, deltas matter more than anything. Our dyno has produced comparable values to the figures published by BMW. Many factors effect wheel horsepower. We believe it is enough to show the customer the information displayed above.

Does the M240 need a trans update for stage 2? I'm thinking a sweet spot for stage 1 would be 17 psi as the m240 is basically the mppsk b58

For us in California/Arizona/Nevada only have access to 91 octane and e85. Would the Stage 2 tune be good to run on an ethanol mix? 3 gallons e85 with the rest 91 to get 93.

I don’t understand why so many people think the M240i is “basically” the MPPSK B58. It doesn’t have M Performance exhaust and it doesn’t dyno appreciably more than a base 340i. It’s probably running a whopping extra pound of boost.

I would very much appreciate a PM with prices as well. I purchased the stage 2 flasher tune originally as I have a catless downpipe and I'm very interested in working out that torque limiter situation and taking advantage of that with possibly stage 3 in the future as with stage 2, If over 400hp I'm bairly there. I need more power!

a) how about a stage 1.5 for 91-93 gas (usually get 93 but some stations have only 92 or even 91)
b) this needs a release asap as doing everything on the iPhone is just so choice
c) Group Buy !?!

Questions

I am assuming those of us with 6 speed manuals have no need to be concerned about torque limitations ?

Any options to change throttle mappings for Comfort/Sport ? Is this possible with a custom tune ?

Any options to control rev matching ?
