My 4 series was stolen

As above - a couple of nights ago my 435i was stolen from my front drive. They managed to also disable my ring camera while they stole the vehicle. It was probably the best car I have ever owned

Did the ring camera not record something before they disabled it?

Realistically if you were looking to steal a car you would just park several roads away, walk up to the Ring doorbell with a balaclava on and just rip it off first.

Might be worth getting a CCTV camera fitted and have it mounted up higher so thieves can't just rock up and rip it off easily.

Driveway thefts are fairly common these days so unless the Police get it back (unlikely) then its a case of claim from your insurance and move on.

Sorry to see your news. Any idea how they unlocked and started it?
Can't say I'd want a car back after some vermin have been in it mind.

@canonsred ask the Police to start Op Cundall - you fill out some paperwork and BMW track the car - I got mine back via this method.

PM me if you need help.

Signal boosting is not a major issue for me since I live in a high rise but when I drive out of town to visit a lab or production site some of the motels I stay in will have marginal folks staying there. I keep my key in a Faraday fob protector.

OP, sorry to hear that. I hope you get it resolved (found/returned, or insurance) as you'd like.

My BMW doesn't have comfort access (choice) but our KIA Sorento does. We'd not used faraday pouches until a few days ago when a neighbour had their car taken during the night by way of relay track.

£7 for two pouches, which I've tested and they are 100% effective, is a no-brainer.

My BMW doesn't have comfort access either, but use a Stop Lock Pro on that every time. Our Renault Kadjar has keyless entry but you can turn it off on the menu system in the car. Ours is turned off which means we have to press the button on the fob to lock and unlock the car which is no hardship. We also use the pouches on the key and the spare just to be on the safe side. Worth checking with the Kia to see if you can turn keyless entry off.

I did call the local KIA dealer which services the car but they were clear : unfortunately comfort access can't be disabled.

So sorry to hear this, what a bummer!
I have comfort access, but it only has range of about a metre.
Despite that I always keep the key in a pouch when not in use, just in case.

The range of comfort access is irrelevant when it comes to relay theft, that's why faraday pouches are a must.

If this comfort access security flaw is still a problem it's shameful on BMW. I remember this being reported in mainstream news 2 or 3 years ago.

^ this.

The car continuously transmits the comfort access 'request' and the fob responds as an RFID device if it is within range of the signal.

Boost the strength of the car's CA request and if the signal reaches the fob...bingo.

New BMW's have keys that 'sleep' when no movement detected.

Naive question - can you not still see the car on your phone BMW app? I love my 435i.

It no longer does this - if the key is motionless (i.e. laying on your coffee table) it stops transmitting but it's the key that transmits, not the car.

EDIT - as Speedski said.

Presumably his model pre-dates the sleeping key and they relayed his older, continually-transmitting key which was not in a Faraday sleeve, using a relay transmitter you can get on eBay.
