Installing MMI Rear View Camera - Trunk Lock Won't Fit

I am installing the Bimmer Tech MMI Rear View Camera on a 2013 328i X-drive and I'm not able to get the new trunk lock/switch to fit. There is a plastic part (that holds the switch mechanism) and this needs to fit on the new trunk lock, but the clips don't secure it properly and the plastic latch isn't long enough to activate the switch.

Is there a different switch mechanism that I should be using?

The first picture shows the original trunk lock and the switch mechanism after it's been removed.

The second picture shows the original trunk lock and the Bimmer Tech lock with the integrated camera.

I have a 2013 335i sedan. Your OEM handle is not the same as mine. Mine is same style as your new handle, and the lock switch housing is blue plastic.

Seems like there’s something different with your car. I’d follow up with Bimmertech.

I ended up going to the local BMW dealership to look at their OEM handle. It's the same style as my current one, so I'm confused on how it could be different.

I've got a trouble ticket into Bimmer Tech for Monday morning.

Maybe it looks the same on the outside?

For your reference here is my OEM handle. You can see the tab that activates the button and the pins are different from yours, and similar to your replacement part.

I received a notification from BimmerTech that after reviewing the VIN number for our vehicle, they determined that they had sent the wrong part. There is an "old style" handle on some F30's and that's apparently what we have. They are sending us the correct handle this week, so we should be able to complete the install.

I figured it was something like that. Glad you got it worked out.
