Hi,
I just stumbled on this thread as I am researching on retrofitting the park assist on my 2015 640iX GC. I do have rear camera, front/rear PDC, driving assistant (S5AS), all surround view and other options. I do not have though the Active with stop and go. So I have a couple of questions and hope someone can shed some light - First u mentioned in your first post that u needed the DSC pulse generator or replaced if the car doesn't have Active with Stop & Go. I looked at the www.realoem.com under the brakes section for my VIN number and there is two part numbers for the Hydro unit DSC depending if you have S5AT (Driving Assistant Plus) or not, but I have S5AS (Driving Assistant). Any thoughts anyone? Also when I looked at www.realoem.com for JBE part numbers I noticed there are different JBE part numbers depending on the car options. I think I have (I didn't verify the JBE part number as I am assuming it is the one based on the options I have) the below Sun-blind, rear S415A=Yes and Park Distance Control (PDC) S508A=Yes and Park Assistant S5DPA=No Junction box for electronics 3 - 61359393666 but I think I will need the below Sun-blind, rear S415A=Yes and Park Distance Control (PDC) S508A=Yes and Park Assistant S5DPA=Yes Junction box for electronics 3 - 61359393665 Any thoughts on that I was also wondering where did you buy the parts from, as the sensors alone NEW ofcourse are around $600 The wiring harness you listed part numbers please can you guide me if I can use the same components or where can I look to find what wiring harness components I need I am still reading the rest of the thread but very well written..... Thank you

Auto PDC means if you drive slowly towards a wall or other barrier the PDC automatically turns on.
PMA Gen2 ECU looks and works the same as the Gen1. Only differenz is the possibility to hook 2 more sensor to it. You only need to change this ECU. No other ECUs are involved. |

Without EPS it dont work thats correct and nothing is not retrofittable.
The early F30/F31 xdrive models also dont have EPS. |

I just checked on etk and for xdrive it shows "contains EPS control unit" from 11.2012 to current. Is this incorrect info or something different.

Itīs correct. Anyway you couldnt get Park Assist from factory for the F30 before LCI. There have to be another difference between xdrive and non xdrive cars that is a no go for Park Assist.

For those who wants to retrofit PMA Gen2 u need:
- PMA Ecu (Partnumber see some posts above) - 2x rear PDC Sensor in matching car colour - brackets for the Sensors F30/F35 with M Bumper 8 069 815 F30 with Normal Bumper 7 445 146 F31 with M Bumper 8 069 816 F31 with Normal Bumper 7 445 160 F32/F33/F36 with M Bumper 8 073 079 F32/F33/F36 with Normal Bumper 7 496 135 - Glue Set K6 2 317 925 - Rear Bumper site guides(no differnce between M and Normal Bumper) For F30 7 384 465 & 7 384 466 For F32/F33/F36 7 428 731 & 7 428 732 - for the connectors you have to use a PDC rep cable because you dont get the OEM Connectors with PN 6 925 595 or 7 615 490 on its own. You have to code HU_NBT: MACRO_PMA_EINPARKEN > gen2_ohne_konf PDC_FLANKENSCHUTZ > aktiv AUTO_PDC > aktiv COMMUNICATION_PARKMASTER > gen2 |

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Good thing I didn't start parts hunting! Would've been a nice feature to have.

No it doesnt work. If you have a Gen2 Ecu but dont have the 2 Sensors, the system knows that and the complete PMA go to error mode and dont work any longer. I tried this at the start of my retrofit.

I have retrofitted Gen2 PMA on my 2012 F20. Auto-PDC and perpendicular parking are both working ok. However, I couldn't see any flank protection in the PDC screen. I have already set PDC_FLANKENSCHUTZ to ON in NBTEVO. Is there any other FDL codes I need to set for the flank protection to work? |

So this retrofit is all cameras, wires, sensors and software? The power to actually turn the steering wheel comes from the existing servotronic power assist unit? There are no additional motors to turn the steering wheel?
I actually ask for a different reason. I don't want this system, but it is required on a 2018 4 Series as part of a package that is required to get adaptive headlights, which I do want. I'm trying to figure out how much complexity and weight Parking Assist adds. |
