Center Console Squeak under HVAC
Good morning,
I've read a lot of posts about people experiencing a squeak from the plastic panel underneath the HVAC controls and above the cup holders. I think this is the same panel that has the little glow light in it. What I haven't seen is any solution to this. Anyone have a solution? This panel secures by snaps not screws so tightening isn't an option. |

I got rid of the squeaks in the center console using teflon lubricant. I disassembled the entire front panel and removed the HVAC and stereo controls from the frame. I very thoroughly cleaned everything with a nice new microfiber towel dampened with distilled water. I then applied a drying teflon lubricant in all the areas that plastic touches plastic. The tolerances are too tight to use flocking tape or anything similar. It's been squeak free for over two years.
Another big source of noise for me came from the area your leg hits on the transmission tunnel of the car mostly on the passenger side. I took apart the plastic trim and applied a lot of flocking tape after finding which panels were making the most noise. |
