Cornering FOG or HEADLIGHT?

hi all

recently purchased a 340i.

re the cornering lights, is it just the fogs that turn on directionally OR is the LED adaptive headlight meant to shoot some light out when cornering?

we have cornering lights on our golf r where the headlight activates an extra bulb that sprays the corner which works great.

are the f30s the same?

thanks

If you have the adaptive headlights, then the fog turns on and the headlights swivels into the turn. If you don't have adaptive, then just the fog turns on.

Unless you live out in the country with no street lights non of this would ever make a difference to your drive. Can't believe you would even pay attention to this.

Another thing to note is that unless you’re moving, the headlights won’t turn into the direction of oncoming traffic. So if you’re LHD, it won’t turn to the left unless you’re going more than 10 or 15mph. RHD is the opposite so if you’re testing while at a standstill, keep that in mind.

you obviously havent experienced cornering lights in a VW then.

it noticeably increases visibility even in urban areas. we have street lights on the lower northshore btw.

ah i think you're referring to the swivelling feature. i was actually wondering about the cornering where you indicate or turn and it throws a side beam even at standstill

this is a good exampe of it on a 2019 m850i

The swiveling headlights is part of the cornering light system on our cars. There's no dedicated cornering light outside of the fog lamp lighting up. At least it is this way on us cars. I'm not sure if it's different for eu headlights as they don't have the amber corner light like on us cars.
