F32 coupe - Driver's window doesn't auto up and down on door open
Hey yall
I just noticed something this morning, as the door just didnt feel or sound right when it closed. What I noticed is the window! Normally when you open or close the door, the window cracks down about 1/2 inch then back up when the door closes right? It has stopped doing that! WTH?? The window itself seems to operate OK with the window controls but the auto up/down has stopped. Anyone seen this? Any suggestions? I didnt find anything trying to search the forums, but maybe my search fu is weak. Thank you, I need to get this fixed ASAP.

HAHA!
Actually my local shop just gave me the info! Its super simple so wanted to share in case anyone else runs into this. Symptoms: The auto up/down on door open doesn't work and also the double click auto up full (from the window controls) doesn't work. Cause: Window regulator has lost track of the window position. Fix: Press window down, and hold the window control button down for 10 seconds after full down. Press window control up until full open and hold for 10 seconds. Then just window down as normal. It should now do the auto up/down perfectly. Just fixed mine! Woot woot!

This will also work on the f30 as well. I recently had the same issue with my rear windows. You have to reprogram the stops. The sunroof has a similar procedure.

Yeah, it's a BMW window thing. Heck my 1995 E36 did this too. Thankfully the window reset is easy.
