PCP on the AQF is shocking.

Boom indeed!
Dealer putting in over 26k
They must have a fair few to shift, but what a deal, nothing comes close for me, if I didn't need an estate for dogs I would be on that deal Like a tramp on chips.

I have a dog, she can go in the other car....

The trouble with the M5 deal, its only on stock cars, most of which have been in stock a few months - and most of which are quite well specced. Those numbers are for a standard car - so add in £5k of extras and the numbers look a bit less attractive...

But its a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a car I will never have again, so who knows...

Also been offered a cheap (relatively) GLC 63 - but my daughter has a GLC and I dont want to have the same!

Alfa PCP prices are laughable...

Yes.

And as a wise man once said, life can be short. Go do it.
I have no one telling me no, as a result of life being short. What surprises me is, with prices and deals as they are, that amount of money doesn’t get anything I really really want - unless I am missing something...
That's just the circle of desire Ian. At the moment I am 'No more expensive cars when this one's finished' but I'm sure I'll stay on the wheel.

If you fancy it in this moment then go for it. You're sensible with money and have your ducks firmly in a row so go for it.

For me right now i would be looking at some of the good deals on RRS. That's because it suites my current needs, might be useless for the OP..

https://www.inchcape.co.uk/offers/la...rover%20sport/

Just one example..

son in law works for inchcape so guess what he is pushing... and it definitely is a more sensible car for me. Not sure I would ever get it back off my daughter (yes, I do insure my cars for her to drive... although probably not an M car!)

I know it's not really news to anyone.......but -

New M5 - OTR £91,600. GFV after 4 years is £35,701.

New RRS - OTR £68,155. GFV after 4 years is £36,366.

I know when you get down to it the deals are very similar but the depreciation on the M5 is mental (suppose that comes down to the pie in the sky OTR price!!).

If the dealer is giving you most of the difference in discount (between list prices) who cares!

BMW list prices are a mile removed from reality of the value they offer, agreed...

That's not depreciation from £91,600 when the car invoices for £65k is it.

Honestly I don't really know what you'd call it! I'd imagine the invoice would still show £91,600 and the finance documents would show the dealer contribution as a deposit (that's how mine has worked in the past).

I'm being genuine I don't know.

However it's framed it just highlights the BMW throwing darts at numbers pricing policy. I know it's been discussed numerous times on numerous different cars but when you see it in black and white like that it's startling!

Got one. and next to no return in it these days... dont really want another! ISA produces better returns unless house prices leap in next few years - and with the state of the political arena, would you bet on that??

I also have an estate for dogs but there is a school of thought that says they'd be safer in the passenger cell of the car in the event of an accident (especially if someone were to hit you from behind). For that a reason a friend with dogs puts hers on the (covered!) back seat of her GLA secured with harnesses; not sure I'd want our wet, muddy, labradors, on the back seat of an M5 (covered or not) but it's an alternative way of looking at things!

Have a think about it, if you pay 6.5 beans for something and I offer you 3.5 beans for it 4 years later, how much have you lost? (that figure is the depreciation)

It really is very simple.

I get the logic behind the safety, but estates just make dog transport so easy.
They go in a robust crate, and on command jump in so what ever condition they are in I never have to touch them. The boot has a liner that drops down to cover the bumper so no damage to the paintwork and unlike an SUV the load lip is low so the little one can make the jump.
The thought on mine on the back seat on a M5 would blow my head

It is easy with an estate or hatch. I have a 5 door mini that she can go in for short journeys, and when we go further she will go on the floor in the front, which she prefers anyway.

Assuming I buy a saloon.... which is still unlikely....

This was our XC90 after a HGV went into the back of it. Hate to think what would have happened if my dogs had been in the back.

However, I still believe the boot and behind a proper dog guard is the safest and best place for them.

Can't imagine trying to put a harness on mine and then clip them onto the back back seat.

To be fair he gave a polite response first, to which you replied that you weren't sure what to call it.

All he did was simplify it further given your response.

Depreciation has nothing to do with list price, even if they choose to print it on the invoice. If you didn't pay it, you haven't lost it.
