2013 BMW 328i xDrive f30 - I have this ever so slight steering wheel knock. It feels like almost like a slight jolt. What is this? I read there is a repair kit for it, regarding the thrust piece, although I have no clue what it is or if that is it. I do not have the knock with the engine off weirdly enough, oh and one of my horns stopped working.

the repair kit is supposed to fix a knocking issue from the steering rack. it can be installed at bmw or by a certified technician.

Thank you! I'm assuming they no longer just replace the rack? Because I'm out of warranty and I am not dropping 2.5-3k to fix a knocking issue... obviously something within the rack to column is causing that issue and replacing the entire rack is insane. Is that the common failure point on the f30 for steering knock issue??? The horn issue I already know nor am I concerned about that. Just not tryna replace an entire rack...

that would suck to replace the whole rack but yea from what i understand thats the fix. i need to do it but eh

Car drives fine, the knock is so light and intermittent unless you have OCD like me you wouldn't notice.
