122004 dv error

I am running the turbosmart dual bov on my n55 and I am getting error 122004 diverter valve cable error code. The check engine light isn't on but I believe it's a shadow code. Could it be when I installed it that it left error in the system? I forgot to disconnect the battery when I installed it.

Could always try erasing the shadow code and see if it comes back. If it doesn't, it's likely from installation.

Not sure if it helps but i got shadow error codes for my MAF when i unplugged it without disconnecting the battery or letting the ECU go to sleep (i had to pull my intake to do boost leak check). I cleared them and they never came back.

So +1 for saving the codes, then clearing and seeing if they come back.

Deleted it and it came back. 122004 diverter valve disruption cable. Ugh! If cable is disconnected wouldn't I get engine malfunction?

Getting the same error. 122004 Recirculation valve, control: line interruption. I have the turbo smart plum back installed. Did you ever get this resolved? Was there a disruption in the cable?

I checked the cable and it was all good. No issues so far.

They both should hold pressure fine. The only potential drawback to the GFB is that there might be maintenace required. So on the long term, the turbosmart might be the better solution, but it hasnt really been out long enough to prove itself yet either.

True, i think Oma had a code from the turbosmart and so did someone else recently. I dont know if its an issue with the DV itself, or some other factor.

I’ve had both and my GFB+ did need maintenance. Without applying oil fairly regularly it begins to stick. I replaced it with the Turbosmart dual port because it’s a pain in the ass to get to it and I didn’t want to hassle with the maintenance. I haven’t had any issues so far with the Turbosmart.

I wish I had more information on a potential fix but mine didn’t generate an error. Could be dual port vs. plumb back but not sure why that would be an issue.

Ever find out the cause or if it caused you any problems the past few months with the code?

I got mine installed today and popped the same code.

I made a thread recently about a code I was getting after my plumb back version was installed. It was also not throwing a cel just a shadow code. It was a code for bov jammed closed. I found out that it was throwing that code because it's a stiffer spring dv then stock so it flutters under very low boost instead of completely opening. I have had zero actual issues once I found out that it was a harmless code and it was operating properly. I will be installing a pure stg2 turbo when ever it gets here so I'll have the turbosmart dv back out so I'll look it over just to be sure.

Was that the response from turbosmart about the code, or your interpretation?

That's what turbosmart emailed me when I asked about the code. It also seems to make sense to me.

I have been getting the same code on the 2011 550i, started a year ago after I installed the TurboSmart blow-off valves. Emailed TurboSmart but got no reply. If I drive the car daily I do not get the code but any time the car sits more then 36-48 hours then I get the 122004 code. Frustrating

I had this issue, could have sworn it was because the wire solenoid was bad. I broke mine. The connections are very flimsy, need to be careful with it.
