Wheel spacers, lowering springs and 20 inch wheels

Would there be any sort of tyre rub issues if a 335d had all of the above?

Also would those mods affect tyre wear uniformity?

Regards

It depends on a lot of factors, like the amount of drop, the wheel offset and width, the width of the spacers, your tire choices...

If the wheels have the correct offset, you don't need spacers.

Nope. Only time I had it was when exceeding the permissible axle weight. Helping a friend move and the car looked slammed. When backing on to his drive it rubbed and over speed bumps. Luckily it was a ten minute drive so no dramas.

As long as you don't have a tow bar. Think I read somewhere that 20" wheels are not suitable with x drive & towbar.

I have OEM 19's, spacers & ACS springs no issue with rubbing at all, your set up with 20's would give the same o/all wheel diameter so, no issues as long as you have the recommended standard tyre size & OEM offsets. I also guess it's a question of how low you go?

You could ask JonBk as he has similar

You could also go for ever so slightly wider wheels, then you wont need the spacers, that would though probably mean you would have buy none oem wheels.
I have 20'' wheels and Eibach lowered springs and have no problems.

Looks like the OP is running the 405m reps which are wider IIRC

Just enough to make the car look like it isn't jacked up. I think I'll give the spacers a miss now tbh. Cheers

Do you know if my wheels are a factory optional extra or were they added to the car afterwards?

Cheers

If they are 405M replicas I'd say they would be similar width and offset to these at CM Wheels

Doubt that they would have come from the factory with them, more likely a dealer fit option if they are genuine BMW wheels.

Genuine 405M sizes

Front Wheels: 8Jx20 ET36 (p/n 36116796264)
Rear Wheels: 8.5Jx20 ET47 (p/n 36116796265)

Take one off and see, then you'll know for sure

Depends on which wheels, spacers and springs they are exactly. If you post some further details I'll be happy to offer an evidence-based opinion.

I'd need to know the width and offset of the wheels before I can advise you any further.

I've got OEM 20" 405's which were dealer fitted when the car was new. They did rub ever so slightly on full lock on the inner arch and I can see minor scuff marks on the plastic linings. Since having the car I've had Eibach springs fitted along with 10mm spacers at the front (12mm at the rear) and the rubbing on full lock has now stopped with the wheels being that little further out from the arch.

It does now rub on half lock on the passenger side though when under load. Say going around a bend on a steep camber or on some roundabouts but it's barely noticeable and does it rarely. Not sure why it's only on the one side? Slightly different inner arch shape possibly? Not sure if adaptive suspension makes a difference to ride height or body roll in comfort? Having a front passenger increases the frequency though so it must be very tight in there?

Tyres might also make a small difference? No longer running the RF Pirelli's and am on MPS4S NRF of the same size (225/35/20 Fronts)
