Chassis warning - iffy sensor?
Hi all,
Had a chassis warning pop up on the idrive a couple of times now. Both on hot days (last time July 31st in 37oC) and again today. Car had been sitting for a few days prior to each and funnily enough did the exact same journey around the same time of the day. Switch the engine off and on again and it's gone so assume it's an iffy sensor somewhere? Anyone got any ideas of what it might be? Car drives fine, no limp mode, noises etc and goes as soon as you switch then engine off and on again

Great, thanks. How much did that cost you? I'll probs take it to an Indy but I assume as it vanishes again when I restart the car there won't be an error code?

Repaired under extended warranty £100 excess, parts were approx £125 don’t know how much BMW charged for diagnostics and fitting. I take it you have adaptive suspension ?

Yes I do indeed, so quite possibly the same issue. Did your error disappear as well or stay on?

You need to be able to read fault codes on the car to have any idea of what is causing the fault. The check control feature on the car is pretty much worthless - it will never tell you much more than the information about a light bulb failure.
I'd really recommended a product like Carly for this, it's great ammunition when you visit a dealer as well as it will give you a good idea of whether they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes (hint: any main dealer in my view is). |

First time got warning stuck in traffic hot afternoon and reset next drive. Car drove fine whilst warning in place but suspension felt as though stuck in sport mode. Next time it happened warning stayed on but nothing in faults but I had a cc-id 0010 in hidden menu in Kombi, couldn’t get a code using Carly or BimmerLink.

All I can say is that the BMW dealer diagnosed the problem straight away but had to await parts so took a couple of visits along with arranging workshop availability. I did ask for a breakdown of costs and they said they would send onto me but that never happened so that is why i'm unaware of total cost but must have been around £250, £100 to me due to warranty.
