P.S. dumb question (how much hp will add transmission flash) - dumb answer.
But you’re the one who answered the dumb question with a figure of “+30 HP easily”.

Circling The Drain didn’t ask you how much hp the transmission flash would add.

He asked you “how exactly does a transmission generate power”. And then you read the subsequent posts, started feverishly googling topics like “internal combustion” and “can a transmission make power” and you realized that it cannot.

really? even dog understands that transmission cannot generate power, I wrote "+30hp easily" and yes, few of the "smartest" guys here chimed in
I bet if someone would ask how much hp would add ///M badge and I would answer "15 at least" some very "smart" guy like you would come and tell that I googled and found that ///M badge cannot add power?

You guys are funny , but I think what rahlow meant was what limitations will be lifted with a trans tune to get power/torque where it should be without stock limitations, not what additional power will it make (and I think it is just tq that will be "less" limited and not hp)

The question would be what blinker fluid makes the most HP?

I once read somewhere that a similar flash allows for more slipping of the transmission? More wear and tear on the internals? Can someone offer some insight?

Thank you GT500 for correcting my question. Screw the rest of you mean ass BMW drivers. Just trying to gauge how much faster the car is likely to be after the flash is done.

Not sure how much slipping can be electronically controlled on a torque converter tranny, but in today's world of electronically controlled parking brakes, who knows...

I do know however that the dual-cluth trannys such as DSG can be reprogrammed to both up the hydraulic pressure so the clutch packs grab harder and faster, and for the shifts to happen faster as well as allowing more cluth slip when launching. It doesn't kill the transmission straight away, but it does wear out faster, specially the clutch packs.

Awesome Thread. Looking forward to getting my car tuned. Has anyone with the 6MT got a tune yet?

They’ve been too busy to post because they’ve been “moving for 2 weeks” for months now without any explanation as to why. I wouldn’t expect much from them here. They also aren’t responding to emails that well. I love their product though.

i got flashed by another tuner i dont wanna say who.

But i told them i was flashed by mission performance when he was flashing my car he notices 4 flash counts. i purchased mboot so im kind of surprised. He said it should only be two one from stock and one from mission.
4 counts makes sense though

as i had one from stock.

one from mission stage1

mission stage 2 after i went catless.

then mission stage2 + cold start delete.

the flash count should have been frozen at 1 no?

He's still around.
I just flashed a revised stage 2 file based on the newest BMW firmware to try and get rid of the manual box rev hang issue.

Correct.

And it wasnt a wild guess because he was confused as to why i had 4 flashes so was i but then i was like ohhh

Stage 1
then stage2
then stage 2+ cold start delete.

4 total flashes including the stock so yes despite spending the extra on mboot my flashes were able to be read and not frozen at 1.

I'm curious what my flash count would be, my DME was updated multiple times by BMW for warranty and other complaints.

Did your car have MPPSK? Ever had any software updates applied for any warranty work?

MPPSK would mean the flash count would have to be at least 2 (factory + MPPSK install), and I know I've had mine flashed many times by the dealer due to a couple issues.
