Own your car since new and more than 4 years now? Any issues?

I bought my car with less than 50 miles on the odometer. Drove gently for the first 1200 miles. Changed oil twice a year. Never*
abuse it, track it, nor use any tunes. Now near 5 years of ownership, still trouble free.

If you own your car since new, taking care of it, and still own it pass the first 4 years of warranty, how is your car reliability? Any surprises after you are out of warranty? Thanks!

I just edited my post to correct an overly ambitious Auto Correct feature. Thanks for the heads up! :-)

Haha, I have 2013 f30 328i N26, no lines. But dealer upgraded rim to 18" and added M Performance brake. Own it since December 2013.

2014 F31 Sports Wagon since new in August 2013 with 31K miles. Maintenance by the book. Only issue I had was failure of the door locking actuators in both front doors which is a common F30 family issue.

Thanks for the info. My car doors sometimes won't open properly, but lock and unlock always solved the issue. Thus, have not got it fixed.

I do notice now my comfort entry not working as well now. Touching the door handle to lock and unlock is not that responsive.

Not 4 years but the last month of a 36 month 2014 435MPPK/MPE & what is now the Track Package, cracked a motor mount. Must have been rare as it was a cheap part but not stocked in the US, was shipped in from Germany. Delay in the repair got me a loaner & a full months payment back.

Only non scheduled maintenance item on the car.

2014 335xi GT w/ MPPK delivered in February, 2014. Only (somewhat) significant issues were a cracked airbag cover and a split bolster cushion/upholstery - both of which seem to be fairly common on the M Sport variants.

You are lucky. I had a 2013 428i MT. Too many issues with that car.
Drive train vibration issues from 6k that never got fixed even under warranty. BMW couldn't even diagnose the issue...
Fuel pump failure. Bad wheel bearings, rusty brake hubs, clutch slippage on 1st gear.
Minor issues, creaky interior, boot release didn't work properly, blocked wiper washer jets, slight clunking from steering rack.
Sold the car @42k. That car was a nightmare.
Don't think I would get a early build again.

Now have a 2015 428i AT. Still have the creaky interior. Creaks even when you apply gas from a standstill.
Has a low level high frequency whine from passenger side. Not sure if its wind noise, wheel bearing or brakes.
Just not good enough from a manufacturer like BMW.
Give up on the FXX series. Hopefully the G series is better in terms of build quality and reliability.

They only charge $3 for tire rotation I would get that done at every oil change. Also the oils change at 769 costs more than the oil change plus tire rotation.

You're making the assumption that this was all at the same shop so the pricing should always be consistent. The pricing is different because work was done at multiple places and in some instances coupons were applied, or labor was low, or I supplied the parts etc.

Bad is an understatement. Worst car I have ever owned. Had to live with the vibration problem for 5 yrs. Been to BMW and numerous specialists. No one could pinpoint the problem.

The whole idea was to get a new car so you would have trouble free motoring for at least 5yrs. But turned out nothing but.
Even the BMW technician sat in the car said you get some cars that are trouble free then others that just problems. Doesn't give me much confidence in BMW's quality control.
Minor niggles such as the creaks I can live with so long as the car's reliable, I don't mind paying for wear and tear maintenance. But every time the car breaks down. BMW stealers charge £160 just to look at it...

But at least some of you guys out there seem to have good ones.

I read about manual transmission car high speed (like highway speed over 65 mph) tranmission vibration issue. Is this that type of problem?

I guess no USA "Lemon Law" equivalent in UK?

Spent a little more then that, not counting tires & pads, for 10 years & 125K+ miles in a 2004 330 CI ZHP 6MT Convert. Did all non-warranty items myself.

Have not found any one, 330, X3, 335is, 135is, 435, 440, a bad car so far.

Yes, the vibration occurs only at high speeds. Not always a vibration that you feel. But a constant drone that gets worst the faster you go.
Mean't I couldn't really drive more than 70mph without it starting to feel bad.

Well the car seemed to be fixed under warranty. But came back after the warranty had expired.

Not sure what the equivalent 'lemon law' is in the UK but would have been difficult to prove after the elapsed time.

There were a few others on the forum reporting similar issues.

Not only that but with other people accidentally damaging the car, then the vandalism. Along with the reliability issues. It was a painful car ownership experience.

I did a post at end of 2019, but don't see it now. Anyway, 2019 was trouble free. Did oil changes and one dealer's scan.

Edit:
Also did brake fluid flush in 2019. My total maintenance cost in 2019 was a few hundreds.
