BMW is tech as Tesla is a car company,
their fit and finish and material quality are poor at best

Sorry for the newbie question.

I have 2015 X3 and app used to work for all features. when my car reaches 3 years in Feb, sending location to my car stopped working and I thought it was perhaps some kind of subscription services being terminated?

Does this app suppose to work after 3 years without paying extra?

Hi there,

The map function on my BMW Remote App is working again. Well, at least it finds addresses etc.

But the function Send to Car is still not working. I tried sending an address from Google Maps from my computer, but it does not work either.

Has anyone had any lucky with the “send to car” function (either from the BMW Remote App or from the Google Maps on your computer)?

Thanks a lot for any help with that.

No. It stops working a long time ago. I don't think it will work again.

Hi everyone. I will post in a separate thread, but the Points of Interest (POI) and destination download functionality in the Remote App are fixed.

We have also migrated to a new back end system for ConnectedDrive in Canada which means you will need to re-register for an account at https://www.bmw-connecteddrive.ca

You will need to use a valid email address and have your full VIN. Once you register and add your vehicle a message with a passcode is sent to the vehicle. Once you enter that in you vehicle will be mapped and you can use the remote app.

The back end change was a requirement to bring us one step closer to having the Connected App in Canada.

I know this was long overdue but we appreciate everyone's patience

Well, so much for that. Just tried three times. Was able to register, got the email, confirmed, went to add vehicle, and all I get is a “The vehicle cannot be added to your account...request cannot be processed due to a system error”

Hey Folks, so glad for this thread. Thought I was going crazy. Have a new 2018 440 GC and signed up with VIN and all online, got the pin in the car and was able to finally log into the remote app. Will test features tonight.

Connected app however won't even let me log in. Is there something I should be doing that I'm not?

Thanks 33! Got mine up and running today including the BMW Remote app with the new setup. Had to delete my old connection to the car and re-enter it but no biggie.

A few questions/comments...

1) any idea on timing on the new Connected Drive app? How will it differ from the BMW Remote app currently?

2) I have also been able now to send a location from the BMW Remote app map to the car. Yeah!!! Not sure if you are looking for feedback on this feature though, but it would be nice if when you click on the message that was received if you had a choice to add it to favourites or navigate to the destination. I would like to send a number of waypoints to the car in preparation for a trip and not navigate to each one as I click on them.

3) Further to above, do you know if there are plans to add a system to send routes to the car and not just waypoints? I like to plan very specific routes when I travel in order to hit POIs I have researched or twisty roads or whatever so direct routing from point to point doesn't work well for me, and I'm sure others who like to plan trips and not just get there as soon as possible. There is the BMW Route Planning tool in Europe which works great (used it on my European Delivery in May) so would be nice if we had something similar.

Not sure how much of this is your domain but any insight would be great!

Did get an email just now since I re-registered this morning, welcoming me to Connected Drive and inviting me to download the new Connected app. Not only does the link not work on my iPhone (redirects to main bmw page...assuming its not mobile friendly) but when I click the link on my laptop then follow to the Apple Store to download, its the same dawn Connected Classic app! Not really new!!

Really wish BMW would ACTUALLY test links, apps, info given before they release to us. So frustrating!
