To Everyone That's Catless w/ BM3...

Hey Everyone,

So now I'm finally all sorted on Stage 2, catless with BM3. The past week or so I've been focusing on getting the idle right and getting rid of the CEL, and now that both of those are fixed, I'm ready to start playing with the burble settings. I'm currently just on the non-AGG Stage 2 93 tune with OTS burbles. I really only get burbles at speeds of below 25 mph, and they're not very aggressive. I don't get anything above 25mph and absolutely nothing on downshifts, which would be nice. I do get a nice crack on WOT upshifts though. Would switching to the AGG map quench my childish thirst for burbles, or am I missing something in the configurables?

So: How are you're burble configurations set up, and what kind of burbles do you get? I'd love to get some high rpm lift-off "gunshots" and really would like burbles on downshifts.

I figured it would be easier to ask this than to flash 5 different times looking for something I like, and hopefully this will help someone else who has the same question, as I haven't seen the burble config. menu discussed in too much depth on the forum. Thanks

EDIT: A screenshot of your burble configs. would be greatly appreciated!

I would definitely try the AGG version just to see but sounds like your special DME is just giving you some more love. AGG is just burbles pre-configured to be higher than non-agg, but who knows! As for my map setup, I have it as follows and get some gnarly burbles:

Duration for comfort/eco is 0.5 (For when Blue is nearby)
Duration for Sport is maxed (5)
Aggression is maxed (7)
Min speed is at 0
Max speed is at 110 km/h
min/max RPM are at their min and max.

Gnarly burbles huh? lol I'll give your setup a try as soon as I can. I drive mostly in comfort though, so I'll have to up the duration for sport mode. Thanks for the response

Also, what originally stopped me from loading the AGG map was Audi doing a recall of sorts on the RS3 because the burbles were so aggressive from the factory that it was damaging the turbo (don't know the details) on the I5 because of the unburnt fuel going through it. Am I paranoid or does that sound like it could be an issue on our platform as well?

Likely paranoid IMO. If you had burbles while your wastegate was closed, I could see it hurting the turbo; however, in this case, the fuel is bypassing the turbine on throttle liftoff and combusting in the cat area.

I figured. Onto the custom burble AGG map...

You're about 3 weeks ahead of me looking for the exact same thing...I'm waiting on AWE to build and ship the cat-back suite. Just ordered. Interested in the answers.

Did you have the same settings before the MHI and did it change a bit after or did the MHI come first?

Same settings I had before the MHI but these only affect the burble.

Sweet! I'm glad I wasn't the only one wondering.

BunkerJ So I configured your setup pretty much exactly and flashed, and there is definitely a difference from Stage 2 OTS burbles to Stage 2 AGG Custom, BunkerJ style burbles. It is a marked improvement for sure, I'm now getting some pops on downshifts and nice cracks on higher rpm liftoff, but still not exactly mind-blowing, and no gunshots for sure. I guess maybe my expectations were too high lol. Either way, a definite improvement and I'm certainly content with it!

lol you're getting less and less serious on here with every post you make! If you weren't as helpful as you are on other occasions you'd be a real PITA Kidding! Thanks for the help, I'm now happy with my burbles

Lol... You know, you start to deal with certain individuals on here and it's a bit of a killer.

I would say you could submit a ticket but since you are getting burbles, I'm not sure how willing they would be to give you "more burbles", even if they're technically less than myself or others.

You should let someone else drive your car so you can hear it from he outside. It is way louder when you’re not driving it. I was surprised how loud my car is.

I see you still have a muffler correct? That is why. It's literally there to make your "gunshots" quiet. You can also try just taking of the resonator only for now.

lol I completely understand.
I guess I could submit a ticket, but I don't think it's really ticket worthy. I don't want to bother PTF any more than I half to, especially since I'm at least happy with the burbles, just not blown away.

I've thought about that, might give it a try at some point.

I do have the MPE muffler. But, BunkerJ has an AWE muffler as well, and his burbles are far more aggressive than mine, judging from his description and a few videos.

Forgive me as I have been out of the loop (less time I spend on this forum, the less money I spend haha). Have you done a review on stage 1 to 2 in terms of drivability and power?

I have not! It kind of slipped my mind, to be honest. I will certainly do a write up on that at some point, especially now that I've had proper seat time with the Stage 2 setup, and now that all the kinks with the DP install, idle and CEL have been smoothed over.
