Congrats on your new car. I'm enjoying your posts.

Yes, the (massive) benefits of a dedicated EV platform. Just this single point alone makes the car far more comfortable for adults, or alternatively it's great extra space to store stuff when kids' feet aren't long enough to reach the floor.

I know people say EV isn't the future, but from a car design and engineering standpoint, EV makes for a far more efficiently packaged product.

Do you not find in the M3, as it's lower, the EV platform actually means less leg room in the back? My lanky 12 year old daughter thought it was very cramped when we sat in one. Obviously not a problem in the Y and other 'SUV' styles cars, which make better use of the height to raise front seats

I'm still not 100% convinced by the looks, or the dashboard, but it does seem very luxurious

Thanks..You certainly have a point. The space inside is huge when compared to a similar sized ice product. If they did away with the centre console completely it would be a gold star.

Never had a second look for my X5's. This one I'm getting stares/head turning all the time. Never experienced that before.
Id venture out to say its louder looking than an urus/other super car type.
Shock horror disgust admiration who knows..perhaps its a process in that order.

Guessing they are still quite rare, seen a few but not loads. I think for me it's the front, but that's more to do with the new BMW grill approach than anything iX specific. Sounds like you are enjoying it though, and that's the main thing

Lovely car, can we draw a line under this thread please, so I can go back to being satisfied with the Tesla 🤣and my long term goal of a Discovery EV, with a side order of convincing my wife to have an ID Buzz on the drive.

I don’t need tempting back into the BMW fold. I’m seeing iXs everywhere now!

I like the front end of a few BMWs, including the iX. My personal favourites are probably the X7 and 4- and 8- series.

What I do think the iX has is a well resolved rear design that’s a lot nicer than any of the G-0x SUVs.

KRS_SN how is the height of the iX? That’s one thing that has put me off them a little, without ever having stepped into one, it looks a little low. How does it compare with the X5?

Draw a line...only after 9999 posts..reckon that's the number of posts you made about the love of your life the hselux Disco Buzz. Nice...
I'll measure up the seating heights and post/edit this post once home. Initial thoughts are that possibly same but yeah the discos and ranges definitely can look down on me.

It’s lower than the X5 - when I was considering the iX, it was good in that regard as my parents/in-laws were able to step into the iX much easier than the X5 (at normal height).

It was a PITA to try and reduce the X5 height to suit elderly/short passengers.

I suspect it is lower to improve the range by improving the aero. see Sundays Harrys garage video on Merc's record range EV breaker

Measured it....82 cm. from floor to seat x5. ...
Ix was 78 cm...
I think I prefer the slightly lower but still a high riding height of the IX easier to get in and out.
How are you getting on with the IX3.

Also tried driving assistant professional today. Smooth. Handles traffic lights too. Stops snd goes. I didn't realize that ? It doesn't steer in amd out of lanes? Just tells me near an exit a message to the effect that I must do so when safe.
The display on idrive unit detailing which of the roads in the roundabout to take is nice. This will help 5he (cough cough) Mrs.

The traffic lights recognition system also means it beeps and shows a red light in the drivers display when traffic lights are red and you try to go through a red light a good safety feature.

A con is cannot get the car to start in sports mode. It can be started in personal expressive art design etc but not in sports mode which isn't nice.

Really love the iX3, if only it had the creature comforts of the X5, mainly air suspension and Merino seats! Not measured the seat height of the iX3 but everyone has said it’s much easier to get in and out of.

Fyi You in theory can order air suspension for 2k for the 40 (someone over at ******** did) it’s not on the public configurator yet. Or the 50 has it standard. No merino though

Yep but once I’d driven the iX, I found enough things I didn’t like so I dropped that idea and chose the iX3 instead.

I had specced a nice x50 but it wasn’t to be.

sahajesh dazzapb I think wires are being crossed. Sahajesh posted about air suspension and merino not being available on the ix3 unlike the x5 and think dazza clarified thinking he was talking about the ix 40 and indeed the air suspension is available on the ix as the tech genius confirmed but not sure I can handle any more comfortable plus if you know me my driveway is wonky and air suspension killer.
Anyways just adding to info.. just got to know IX doesnt come with runflats..I'm shocked..its not a proper bmw then.

It's a valid point, but not one that affects me or my family - my Wife is just under 5ft and my kids are still young.

Fair enough. My wife is 5'8, and the girls (especially the eldest) rapidly approaching.

Wouldn't be an issue for a round town runabout, but not sure it would be comfortable for any distance.

Would be interesting to see what the other 'car sized' EVs are like in the back

I have a different problem mrs insists on driving as she likes to and daughters want to sit in the front chatting to mum and also to be in control of music etc. I get relegated to back seats hence that wad a very important thing for me.
