The regulation, called UNECE WP.29, stipulates that all new cars in the EU must have a cybersecurity certificate and be fitted with electronics to protect them from hackers. I'm really surprised. |

May be linked to the fact that the Macan EV is about to come to market at last and they really need to sell a load of those to meet their quotas and let them still sell their sports cars

Nah to be fair I’d never even heard of the Cyber Cetificate for the car. I also think the article has been update at some point as it wasn’t definite before?

"On the Macan’s future in the UK, a Porsche spokesperson said: “The Macan is expected to remain on sale in the UK throughout 2024.” Cyber certificate sounds very regulation heavy. |

Imagine thousands of cars being hacked and crashed randomly into anything at high speed, what is connected to the internet can be hacked and when brakes steering and throttle are all connected this will be a threat.

What a strange article!
And what's this sentence about? "Each car must prove that it's protected against 70 vulnerabilities, including cyber attacks during development, production and post-production." During development? Why? And why does the Manufacturer - who clearly would be against any cyber attacks anyway - have to prove this to the EU? Plus, 70 vulnerabilities? Now I know ten tenths of F'all about hacking, but surely any hacking attempt would utilise a new method (no.71) to get around the EU stating seventy vulnerabilities. I appreciate the Brexit undertones to this thread, but this is exactly the sort of mad hatter crap that the EU spouts. Glad to be able to bypass it (for now)!
