Question - about xDrive setup
Hi Guys,
Could anyone help confirm if below winter set up will be OK for 428i xDrive? Currently running stock summer setup as 225/40/19 fronts and 255/35/19 rear on Bridgestone S001 I want to see if I can run Pirelli Sottozero 3 as 225/45/19 fronts and 255/40/19 rear. Would there be any negative impact on the xDrive system? Thanks for advising! |

Thanks for the reply man! would it still be OK that the difference in diameter is more slightly more than 3% of the original? I read that somewhere but not sure if that is an issue. I know the diameter between the new front and rear is less than 1% variance.

I have seen many different recommendations but I am not sure how to determine if they are within 1% Any help is appreciated. https://tiresize.com/ fill in the blanks of the comparison table both are less than 1% 235/35 265/30, 25.5/25.3, 0.8% difference, overall diameter is too small. it will make your fenderwell gap larger, ride poorer, less impact protection and make your speedo read higher than actual. 235/40 265/35, 26.4", 26.3", 0.4%. this size does opposite of the lower profile combo. with the stock 26" diameter tires the speedo reads high from the factory but with a lil bigger diameter it should be more accurate. i recommend 235/40 265/35 but it's up to you |

you may run into issues with turning the front wheels and rubbing the inner fender lining. Those tires are suited for the F10 platform

You can't go 1% past OEM size on x drive which is 26.1 in height. Anything else can cause issues with X Drive I believe. There is a ton of posts on this. You have to stay within 1%

The only important thing for xDrive is that the front and rear tires are close to identical in diameter. A worn and a new tire differs about 2.5% in diameter. xDrive accepts that as long as it's the same both front and rear! |

this is just wrong information. I have 26.3" tires for both my winter and summer setups with the summer being staggered and its fine. Key is to keep the difference between front and back under 1%. .8% is a better number to stay under.
