Thread: There isn't really many places that someone who deeply enjoys and allocates a large portion of their life to cars can go and interact with an active community of likeminded enthusiasts to discuss our passion. I noticed on this forum there is not many people showing off in detail their F32 440i... so here I am. I am using this thread as a journal for my journey with my car, to use it as notes and to use it to showcase my progress. Feel free to comment with suggestions, ideas, opinions, and thoughts! One rule: Back up your suggestions/ideas with why.

If you have any questions about your 440i, or B58 engine, post below! If I can't help you, I don't doubt someone will.

Short Origin Story: I started my journey learning about BMW motors with my 2015 328i, of course. I owned that car for 3 years, tastefully and purposefully modified it to close to its full potential and it became very quick for its class. I ended up learning so much over those years that I was now confident in moving up a class to really put my experience and passion in action.

Picked up my 2018 440i in July 2021 with about 19,500 miles. Instantly became obsessed. Spent the next 3 months rigorously learning everything I could about the platform, I do have to give a massive shout out to Kern417 on YouTube, Instagram, and Bimmerpost! If you want to understand how a B58 works and why, put the hours in watching his videos (in combination with independent internet research).

Updates:

09/25: The car is still stock, very fast. I have it under warranty and maintenance for two years, I give myself a year before I crack.

I have installed carbon style front lip and rear diffuser, with a PSM style carbon lip spoiler. For the exhaust, I went with dual resonator and muffler delete. Sounds amazing. Last week, I spent about 18 hours working on the paint; the car was clay barred and worked on with the V36, V38, and Blacklight Hybrid Compound from Chemical Guys. Looks like a deep black mirror, black sapphire metallic flakes look amazing. Of course, I got a 25% ceramic tint all around, so you can still barely see the red interior from outside!

I started a YouTube channel inspired by Kern417's filming and editing style. Simple and specific car content. If you enjoy BMW videos, subscribe.

Follow my Instagram too! @black440i

Mistakes/Notes:

- Don't buy a 4 piece front splitter, they are very weak and snap in the middle
- Make sure when you get a proper front splitter, to not rush (and use the 3M bonding tape to secure) in your installation because at around 90mph you get wind noise and it WILL break off and fly under and behind your car... guilty
- Make sure after getting a service done at the BMW dealer, that your BMW's firmware is compatible before reflashing a tune back to your car otherwise the DME will lock and you will not be able to start your car
- Don't use the foam brush at a self service car wash because it will destroy 50% of the detailing work you put in, turns out it is literally like wiping your car with a gravel mop

What a sharp looking F32. The exterior color choice speaks to your courage to select and care for black paint.

When I read posts like this I feel like an English teacher grading papers. So many grammatical errors.

Need more pics. I really don't see much difference than a stock car. I don't like the wing. Too big for me. Should be gloss black and smaller. The diffuser is not bad but I prefer flat black. You also need wheel spacers. Gives the car a beefer look but most people don't know why. I would go 12mm in front and 15mm in back. Keep it up and post more pics.

The car looks stock because the car is stock. The next post I make I will be sure to submit it to paperrater.com before posting it here.

Thank you brother.

That black looks so good! Gave up on black after my E90. It's so much work to keep clean especially in NYC. Anyways, nice car. I gave you a follow on IG just now.

You only have the front splitter right? Been debating adding one on mine too (we basically have the exact same car) but wasn't sure if it would look goofy if I didn't add the side sills and rear.. splitter thing too.

You don't need side sills or rear diffuser to complete any look. The front splitter makes the car look stunning from any oncoming angle, definitely worth it! Just make sure you use the 3M tape to secure it with the bolts or it can fly off when driving hard.

Thanks!

Noted! Do you find yourself concerned about scraping? The car, esp in RWD, is not exactly high off the ground to begin with.

And to just clarify, I have the same rear M-sport diffuser as you, I meant the side splitter thing behind the rear wheel arches that kind emulate front bumper too?

I have scraped before, but after a few months of various inclines, you "learn" the angles to take and how far to stop before the curb when parking forwards. The car has fairly good clearance with the front splitter, just mind your handling when tougeing on bad roads 😂

I decided not to go for the rear sills, I like the way they look on some builds, but the look and purpose I wanted to go for didn't match in my eyes with them.

Can you share some photos of your car? I'd love to see.

Lol not much deviation from yours. The stock wheels are my summers, 400M are winter tyres. I'm fighting the itch to change out the wheels but that will be likely a 2022 item at the earliest.
