Headlight Cracking?

It looks like I got that headlight cracking problem. Will warranty cover it? My car is also going in for a front end repaint since I got destroyed by rocks on a milled road.....should I just get insurance to cover the headlight?

If the front of your car got "destroyed" by rocks, there is no way the warranty will cover your headlight. If you think the rocks also damaged the headlight, that is the way to go.

The shop would love to make some profit off replacing those, however keep in mind your insurance "may" require them to order used or aftermarket lights first. If the used ones are decent condition (they never are) then you may have an issue down the road.

If you go warranty route, then you have a repair order record that they were replaced by BMW. Only downside, once the lights are replaced there is only a 1 year warranty from BMW if it fails in the future.

I have different lights but I dont really see that as a crack, more of a mold design but I cant blow it up to be sure (does the other side look the same?)

My other side was replaced after this happened because it was leaking anyway. I have OEM parts coverage on my insurance. Aftermarket headlights are trash.

Smart man! May I ask who you're insured with?

I'm insured with Kemper, which is part of Unitrin Safeguard Insurance Company. Being 23 (with a clean driving record) it's still hard to get a good rate driving a 435i. I have an insurance broker do my shopping and she is the one who said I should put it on my policy since BMW OEM body parts are unmatched in quality. I think it was a 72 dollar extra over the whole year...so 6 bucks more a month haha. I'm about to graduate from college in December and work for the government full-time but I'm still considered a "student" under the occupation section of the insurance. I'm hoping my rate goes down once I can be considered an actual "working adult." All insurance companies suck apperently

Every insurance company I ever Googled for reviews had 1-star reviews haha.

Good insurance companies, but not cheap:
Chubb
PURE
Erie insurance
New Jersey Manufacturers-you are close to NJ so your company may be eligible. Truthfully, the best insurance I ever experienced but only available in NJ and parts of PA.

Chubb and Pure I've never heard of but Erie is so expensive. I'd like to eventually get a policy with them.

Of course insurance companies are going to have some poor reviews. Someone is always going to be pissed off about something. I’ve had good luck with StateFarm on my cars.

I just put on clear lamin-x covers on the headlights shortly after I bought my car. Adaptive LED headlights are so freaking expensive and every BMW I've owned with plastic headlight lenses have eventually clouded or become dinged to death.
