Pics - Retouched version of the new 3-series with different headlights - better ?

A reader sent some retouched pictures of the new 3-series to Carscoop...what do you think ? Which one looks better, the restyled version or the original ?

I like the re-touched version better, based on this picture.

Original - much better. Minus the hood-line.

Wow what a great job retouching the 3ER. Based on reports and spy photos that was going to be the look. With that being said, I'll have to wait and see the production model before making a decision. Word has it that those who have seen it says it's more impressive than the photos.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

The connection between the headlights and the kidney grills gives it a very firm/grounded/solid look.

When I look at that. I see and feel boredom. At least with the F30 you are seeing something fresh and original and that render is typical expectation.
Nearly everybody does the same shape. The F30 takes this idea out of the comfort zone and it should be applauded for doing so. Same goes for the F20.
No one can say they are not original.

This render proves to me what I've felt with the F30 all along that I can see some F20 in it. Now I'm liking the exposed kidney grilles better as it differentiates it further from other cars, even with other BMW models.

I'm still not liking the hood line but I'm pretty sure I'll get used to it.

I didn't think I would be saying this but I actually like the original better. The re-touched makes the car look too soft (less aggresive). As much as I don't care for the space between the hightlights and grill it does make the car look wider and gives it a stance that it needs.

I do appreciate you taking the time though to compare.

Original by far! The retouched looks too much like a boring Honda or a Hyundia wanna-be. I, for one, LOVE the lights/grill of the F30 just the way they designed it. The hood line, on the other hand...

Retouched version is very boring... The car is already looking bland; the head light design does spice up the car a little bit...

Definitely the original. Don't like the retouched, doesn't feel correct.

Wow, I always wondered what it would look like with a classic grill, and shockingly, I prefer the original. It is unique, and really makes it more aggressive.

Not to say the render is not nice, it is basically a e90 redux, almost, like a LCI of the e90 LCI.

Missing an angle

The original is by far the better one. You also have to think about how this would look from the side profile. With the chrome of the grills covered up from the side with color-matched plastic, how would that look? I think the F30 design is not only unique from a frontal view, but also very "necessary" from a side view.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I was thinking about that and got to wondering if it would resemble the Volvos. With that bull nose look.

I still think the original is better, but what would be even better is that the lights were not so regressed.

prefer the original. But BMW must re-think about that front hoodline ( for LCI ?)
this is my solution, and i think it is even possible for aftermarket Carbon Fibre hood makers to produce with the front make up panel.
