Its odd to me that the previous generation vehicle is substantially faster. I don't mind if BMW is switching up its lines a bit (diesel Ms, tri-turbos, etc.) I just wish they'd explain whats coming up so we could make informed decisions.

There will be a PPK available for the N55. Just add that, and you'll be all good.

And the current E92 335i (virtually the same weight) is listed by BMW at 5.3/5.5, so there does not seem to be much of a change.

Wait 'til the other test results are in.

What is a PPK?

Mind you, I need a car by June.

Unless you are going zero to 60 from every stoplight what is the difference?

My car right now is 0-60 no slower than 5.5 (G37) and I find it addictive. I don't want to lose that feeling and, in fact, I'd like to enhance it.

There's more than 0-60 when driving a car. Mostly likely the steering is going to feel way more alive than your G37. Wait until you can test drive it, then find out for yourself. Worst case if you really need more acceleration, there will be aftermarket tunes on the market just like there are now.

Don't give the g37 too much credit. I went from '01 325 to '06 328 to '09 g37 and there's no comparison in terms of driving feel. Been itching to get back to bimmer.

I realize there's more to a vehicle than 0-60, but I think everyone can also realize that some people just want more... and more over the years. Driving the G37 has been such a dissapointment I'm looking to make a good impact with this 335.

I think they are making room for a new engine. Seriously.
Something between 335 and M3. (Like E90 335is or a 340i)

Before my wife and I ordered our car in January 2011 we had a test drive in an E90 335i and a 335is Coupe. A week or so later we test drove a G37 6MT Sedan, had lunch, then test drove an E90 335i with the M Sport Package. If we hadn't driven them back to back, we may have ended up with the G37 6MT, been perfectly happy with it, and saved almost $10,000. But the difference was so obvious both of us immediately agreed that it was worth it to go with the BMW. In the following weeks we then decided that we liked the look of the LCI E92 better than the E90 so we decided on an E92 335i and then the 335is Coupe. We also decided on European Delivery and saved about $8,000 over MSRP.

I don't think that you will regret getting a 335i!

Kinda disappointed that they're getting much lower hp/liter in the N55 compared to the N20.

What is most disappointing about these numbers is that they are from C&D, who usually have the fastest times. I'm not expecting other mags to have better numbers.

Performance Power Kit. On the current N55, you can boost it up to 320hp, and 332 lb/ft. of torque. I added it to my N54, and I love it!

they will have to up the HP on the 335 to justify the price difference with 328, especially with the coupe coming next year....
Right now the bang for the buck is the 328.

C&D 335i 0-60 test in only 5.3?!?!?

Don't know if this was already posted but C&D who is known for being very liberal with their 0-60 times just tested a brand new Sportline 335i sedan w/ manual tranny and the time came in at only 5.3 sec's.....

Wonder what gives.

Could the newer F30 really have the actual stated HP and not the 20 or so HP "bump" the E90 335's had????

There is no question that the N54 is a much better engine than the N55. Anyone who has driven both will attest to that. I'm still scratching my head wondering why BMW decided to "upgrade". The N55 doesn't even feel like a turbo engine. It feels more like a normally aspirated six....except it's less smooth and has a lower redline and crappier exhaust note.

I haven't driven either one, but I believe Car and Driver has gotten 0 to 60 times of 4.8 or 4.9 seconds for all 335i sedans they've tested, regardless of whether it was the N54 or N55 engine. See the links below:

2007 335i:
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...take-road-test

2011 335i:
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...35i-sedan-test

That's why the 5.3 seconds they achieved with the 2012 model is so baffling to me. It only weighs about 75 lbs more, and should have the same engine and a very similar transmission, and yet it's a half second slower. Hopefully that C & D test was a fluke or something.

^^^ we're comparing n55 to n55 here. not n54 to n55. so lets try and stay on topic por favor. still, a 2010 e90 is faster than a 2012 f30. WTF?
