Fog light coding question
Hello does anyone know what to code to have the fog lights automatically come on when the headlights are on?
Not the high beams because I know that is illegal. I like the extra light on the sides while driving and it would be much more convenient if they came on automatically. |

I write down the results that I have examined.
01 = Small Light ? 02 = Small Light ? 03 = Low Beam 04 = DRL 05 = High Beam 06 = Blinker L 07 = Blinker R 08 = Fog Light 09 = Cornering Light L 0A = Cornering Light R 0C = Brake Light 0D = Brake Force Light 0E = Rear Fog Light 0F = Reverse Light 10 = Parking Light L 11 = Parking Light R |

No. A computer is needed to make the coding.

nice coding, I'll bookmark this page.
Does "small light" mean that all sidelights/parking lights are on? Is it possible to code the DRL to stay off until the parking lights (small lights?) are turned on and dim again when switching to lowbeam or turning off the ignition? I like to observe stars and don't want to tape the headlights when leaving earlier from a meeting Last edited by bmw_fascinated; 11-30-2013 at 02:39 PM.. |

I know i'm posting in an ancient thread, but this seems like the most relevant one I've come across.
I coded the following: MAPPING_NEBELSCHW_L_FUNCTION = 04so that the fog lights come on with the DRL angel eyes. During the day when my low beams are off (headlamp switch in auto position), it works just like i want - only the fog lights and angel eyes are on. However, when it gets dark and the auto headlamps turn on, the fog lights turn off. I realize if i code the values to 03, then the fog lights will come on with the automatic headlights, but then I wont get the angel eyes + fog lights only during the day. Is there a way I can get best of both worlds? Basically I want fog lights on all the time. |

However, if you want to prevent the normal behavior of the fog lights shutting off when you flip the high beams on - you would code the following: FEM_BODY 3050 NSW_AUS_BEI_FL aktiv |

I'm commenting in here so I can come back to the thread. So Is or isn't it possible to have the fogs automatically come on with the low beams?

Not true, if you code the following:
MAPPING_NEBELSCHW_L_FUNCTION = 03the fog lights will come on with the low beams. Basically what those lines are doing is telling the computer to treat the fog lights not as fog lights anymore, but as a different light function, denoted by a number as outlined in Takkey's post. So if you instead set those values to 0C, the fog lights would only come on when you hit the brakes, lol! Like i mentioned in a previous post, i have mine set to 04, so my fog lights come on with the angel eyes, however they do not stay on when the low beams turn on, even though the angel eyes are still on. Someone's gotta have the answer out there right? |

The problem is that when low-beams are switched on, the angel-eyes turn off and the parking-lights are switched on in their place (the same but with low intensity). That's why the fogs turn off when low-beams switch on.
If you want the fogs to stay on with parking lights, low-beams and high-beams, then code with option 01. However, they will not be on with angel eyes. Note that in any option the fogs switch will not work, except if the code is 08. XC |
