Fare thee well
Enabled , FaRKle! and all the Diesel Heads here... so long, and thanks for all the fish.
3 years ago, I had a 2011 X5 xDrive50i that I loved, but valve stem seals were an issue and I didn't want to sink big money into it. Find a diesel, I thought. They are reliable, I thought. I found a great deal on a 2015 F31 328d out and California and brought it east. We laughed, we cried (a lot, as it turns out). It's been the worst car I've ever owned. Now, this is just one owner's experience... I'm not criticizing any of the fine folks here, I wish you all well and I appreciate the discussion and knowledge. But I need a car that's not going to have constant Check Engine lights, incorrect fluid warnings, failed transfer case, fuel pump, NOx sensor, DPF, EGR... I'm probably forgetting something. Yet, like a bad relationship, I can't quit BMW. I bought a 2011 M3 last year (extremely reliable, thank god) and am now looking back at an X3 or X5 to replace the F31. But never again in a BMW diesel. Take care, Mike |

Best of luck. My2015 from Cali has been the best and most reliable Bmw I have ever owned, but things happen and you get a bad one, I can understand your feelings.

I wish you the "opposite" luck on your E90! May rod bearings not be in your future...

Dropped it off at the dealer today to get the CEL and Incorrect Fluid error looked at. The SA was like yeah we have to confirm but my hunch is the NOx sensor... I was like yeah me too lol.
Thanks all. Really enjoyed that KermaTDI tune too before the dealer MIB flashy thingied it fixing other issues. Speaking of which, I have that programming box that came with it... is it of use to anyone? Welcome to it. Along with a big ol bottle of BlueDEF lol. For that matter if anyone wants a 2015 F31 328d with 60k miles and all of the above addressed by the dealer let me know too. New Genesis GV70 looks really nice but leaning X3 for now. |

They're really a lot more reliable than this. The Qpro is locked to your car, so it's not terribly useful, unless that dealer wants it X3M? |

X3M makes me tingly all over but would try to keep it “reasonable” with an M40i |

Ah, the X3 M40i. That's the loaner that made me look at more cars. I let the wife drive it a lot, much to her enjoyment.
4 months later.... last spot on the driveway was filled. Need a new house.

Mines September 2014 as well but built on a Wednesday. Never buy a Friday car or a Monday car.

I've had my 2015 328d Touring for about 2 years. I wish I'd researched the issues with the EGR systems on these cars before my purchase but after the recall/extended warranty issues were resolved, it is still a car I love to drive. As we near my full retirement, I'm wondering what might be my next (and possibly last) car. We've had some great ones over the past four decades. I agree with the maxim 'never buy a Friday or Monday car' but with all the sub-components being built somewhere else at some other time, I don't know if that's as true as it once was. There's just so much to go wrong with new cars. I've overhauled engines, suspensions and body components in my past but once you begin chasing gremlins, it's hard to win. Good luck with your next ride!
