New F34 owner, best looking F model

Hi all,

Just wanted to do a quick introduction, as i have been reading along since November 2021, when i picked up my '13 328i GT.

I have always driven BMW's, from the E30, to the E36, E46, two E91's and now the F34. What a car! I think it is the best looking F model, though many seem to disagree. I noticed that most of the time people who disagree are BMW owners themselves.

Anyway, this forum was pointed out to me by a friend. I must say that it has been helpfull so far as i had an issue with water coming in my trunk when i opened it. At first i was afraid that it might be a designflaw, but searching the forum calmed my mind as i read some solutions to prevent this from happening again.

Looking at some great F34's here, and was amazed by the number of people that did/do some or more modding on their cars. Don't know why exactly, but I assumed that this would be less with a car like this. Respect, although I'm not a modder myself. I think it is just great the way it came, so i won't be doing a lot on the car, exept for permanently turning of the start/go system. Anyway, enough about me, now you know who i am should i post anything. Here's a quick snapshot i took of the car sitting on my driveway. It is Imperial blue brilliant metallic with Saddlebrown leather interior.

I think the F32 is the best looking F model, but passed on it and the F36 as they didn't have the passenger or cargo space that I needed. The F34 doesn't get modded as much as other F series, because F34 owners tend to be mainly concerned about having a practical car that still performs, and don't feel the need to impress the other kiddies so much with how it looks or sounds.

Yeah okay, I can see why you say that the F32 and F46 are better looking. Beautiful cars. And a few years ago i would definitely agree, but you're absolutely right: at this point in my life (and as i cannot afford a 5series with the options and mileage i was looking for) the F34 is the car that suits me best. And i like it because of the size and 'luxurious' looks of it. Rather than a lower, sporty look as the 4 series.

I think the 4 series is the best looking as well and initially thought I would get a Gran Coupe. I found it to be a bit small though and couldn't find a used one with the options I wanted at a decent price. That worked out though as I ended up with a car that suits me better. The only disappointment was that I couldn't find a blue one like yours and settled for Glacier Silver.

Thanks guys! Will definitely enjoy this car!

@KCee One of my must have options: dark colour. But luckily, here in Holland, most F34's for sale are dark colored. Would have had a 'problem' if i had wanted a Glacier Silver one. Light colours do look good too on this model, but are imo more suitable for cars with M-package.

Thanks for sharing, great looking car. Mine is Luxury line as well. I personally like the chrome trimming of the luxury line, but yours is all 'blacked'? (Is that even the correct word in English?)

I have the identical 328i to you - outside & in.
Bill Fitz made 2 suggestions which I sincerely echo as essential kit: the all-over heavy duty floor mats, right now I don't remember the brand .. Weathershield or something, (I'll be corrected by someone if not) I do rate the way they protect the entire floor in the rear.
No 2 essential, some kind of lumbar support cushion for any longer drives.

Great car hope yours treats you well.
Quick question seeing as I don't post often: Has everyone else got an engine bay look spotless enough to eat their dinner off? What's with that? Mine is a 2014. I pull out the autumn leaves etc, but still.

Cool, so great set up...

Allthough we do have a lot of rain here in Holland i think heavy duty floor mats are not really necessary where i live. Though i think it looks great and might save me some money on the long term as the original floormats tend to wear a bit faster than i thought. So might get these next time.

Personally, i'm lucky enough to have full electric, heated memory sportsseats as an option, so many ways to adjust my seats. Had no need yet to add an external option to make the ride more comfortable.

About the engine bay, i'm with you. Don't do much there, other then pulling out leaves and stuff and of course the occasional cleaning so am always able to see should there be a leak or something. (But definitely not spotless).

Well the engine bay in my F34 2013 is indeed one of those spotless ones. Why? I generally don’t like dirt anywhere near my car. Cabin, external, boot, and yes, engine bay.

Maybe it is because I tend to do some tinkering like changing ignition coils and plugs or swapping out the charge pipe. I don’t like to get dirty the second I touch something and I like to be able to immediately see if something starts leaking.

If you engine is greasy and dirty then it becomes inevitably harder to see unusual leaks or signs of weakness that could lead to a more serious issue down the road.

Plus admittedly I take some pleasure in having people commenting how new the car looks inside out.

Oh and as you may not be aware: for the F34 if you keep your engine bay clean the car gets 20 extra horsepower just like that,

I do. Cleaning it twice yearly isn't much of a chore, and when I have to do any work in there it's a lot easier when it's clean.

Thanks! Very happy with it, Luxury line is not that common here, but I'm glad I found this one.

Agree! Looking to start modding my F34 as well. Will probably start with just a JB+ but I already know I’ll want more.
