Condensation in Headlights - 2018 F36 440i GC
Hi can anyone tell me if this amount of condensation in my headlight housing is normal, and if not, can this be replaced under warranty by the dealer?
I noticed the condensation yesterday afternoon and it hasn't gone away on its own even after i took it out for a drive. I also didnt see any cracks in the housing itself. Thanks! |

There is a gas station I go to that uses a pressure washer hose, but last time i did that I didnt see any condensation inside the housing. I rinsed the car with a normal hose two nights ago and thats when I noticed condensation the next day.

How does a pressure washer cause this? Because I'd like to avoid it lol

BMW considers some condensation in headlights normal, esp if it burns off after turning on the headlights. Your experience may vary, they may or may not replace. Check post #9 here...

Agree. No pressure washer should be able to cause that. Unless OP didnt try to wash it from inside the engine bay lol. Maybe the lens was very cold and the water in the washer very hot?

Not normal. I'm having yet another headlight put in my car this Thursday for the same issue.

All the people, I know, who discover the defect use a pressure washer on the car.

Heck, if you want to use your logic, then if the car has a defective sunroof seal from the factory, you cannot park it outside -- ever -- in case is rains. |

The logic I am using is that if someone has the defect he might not even know about it and maybe should use a pressure washer to test before running out of warranty. How about that?

I think a slight haze/fog from time to time can be considered normal.
But anything beyond that where it is enough to start forming condensate droplets I think there is a hole/opening, however small, where moisture is getting in. |
