Depends what production slot your dealer has available.

Ordered my 328 on 11/14, went into production a day or 2 later.I'm in south Florida. Any ideas on timeframe? When I call the tracking hotline, it says production is expected to be completed on 11/26. Driving me nuts! Any timeframe insight appreciated. Thanks.

I can't see the Track Your Order option on the bmwusa website. I have registered and logged in, but it doesn't look like your screenshot. Instead it looks like the following:

While you wait for your car, you can watch this MV Faust documentary from the Discovery Channel. You get see a lot of different BMW models in the documentary. They are packed like sardine.

Edit: video link updated to the new one that works. The old one has gone private.

Now that my car is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel, this thread has become more relevant to me. When I queried the jocsailings site for Bremerhaven to Port Hueneme (as with the above post, since that is my car's destination) for the next 160 days, I got no results. I also tried the NYK line site (post #31), but again no results. I tried the jocsailings site again, this time using all ships travelling to the US for the next 160 days, and none of the ships are going past Galveston. Even the K-line ship Oregon Highway goes only as far as Galveston. Anybody have any insight?

I take it that BMWNA doesn't let you track the production status of your car. I've done this 2 times in the past, where I could see the progress of the car I ordered. This time I can't track through the BMWNA website, I've called the 1800 # and I do get a general status that my car is in production.
Anyone know what happened to the tracking feature????

just called the 1800 number and my car has moved from production to in transit.
I'm hoping I can make the port for the July 1st voyage aboard the Don Juan but I'm thinking it will probably be the July 8th voyage on the Torrens with end of July delivery.

Getting tracking info to appear on the BMW USA website

Tracking a 2015 335i order, I encountered some issues. I'm not sure if this is due to ordering a 2015 can early in the production before the site was ready or is due to general brokenness of bmwusa.com, but I hope this helps someone else.
  1. Get a VIN and production number from your sales associate.
  2. Create a MyBMW account on bmwusa.com. Do NOT enter the VIN or production number while creating the account. This broke the account creation process for me and left me with an account I could log into but then everything would generate an error.
  3. Log in to your account and select "Add/Remove Vehicle"
  4. Put in the production number if you have it. The site seems to be able to derive some info from the partial VIN without having any knowledge of the car, but the production number only works if the site has information available.
    This will either tell you:
    a) Production number is not recognized. The site has no information about your car, try again later.
    b) It will show you the partial VIN and ask you to enter information about where and how you bought the car. Since you're trying to track the car you obviously don't have this information yet. Take a guess and put in some values.
  5. The site will inform you that your account has been upgraded to an "Owner" account and now you can track your vehicle. In reality you will need to log out and then log back in before this takes effect.
  6. A "Track My BMW" entry should appear in the left sidebar and show your car model and production number. Clicking on it should show you the car production state and the list of options you selected. Note that the picture does not match the selected options.

The problem with this system is that it is a voluntary one and not all ships participate.
Where on the WMO-VOS NOAA website am I supposed to be looking? I can't find it.

I placed an order for a 2015 435 xDrive coupe on 7/26/2014. I called the 800 number today and I was told that my car will be scheduled for production during week 40. This can't be normal is it? I was told 6-8 weeks from time of order.

That's really long. I placed my order on 9/28 and I've still been waiting for production to start.

This information is incredible. After saying goodbye to my European Delivery 435i at the Paris CDG dropoff on May 20, I now know that it is safely aboard the Independence 2, currently underway between Bremerhaven and Zeebrugge then on to Southampton UK and Halifax Canada before reaching New York in 2 weeks on the 17th of June, according to the schedule. And I've learned how to track all kinds of cargo vessels, to boot. Kudos!

Something not mentioned here: if your ship/car is headed for the west coast, you can watch it go through the Panama Canal! Get the name of the ship from your CA, and even though you often can't track it across the Atlantic, you can see the estimated arrival in Panama. Check the sites again around that time and it should be picked up in the canal area, and you can track its progress through the locks. Panama Canal Live Webcams. Below is the Equuleus Leader with my 328d wagon on board, going through the Miraflores locks out to the Pacific a few days ago.

Once the ship is through, you'll lose track of it again. Apparently not much monitoring available through Central America. Hopefully it will pick up again when it nears the US.
