Ever replaced radio remote control receiver?

I'm having symptoms of "Remote Control not Detected" and "Engine Will Not Start" - - - similar to this thread http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1396657

Put a new battery in the key and no change.

My thoughts are the Remote Control Radio Receiver might be faulty.

Found a reasonably priced used one on eBay and OEM replacement one here: https://parts.bmwmonterey.com/p/BMW_...316817933.html

Questions are:

Anybody out there ever replaced one of these?

Is this receiver plug & play or is there any programming to be done?

Thanks in advance...

I would be shocked if receiver was bad.

And there are 3 or so receivers in the car. 2 in center console that look nothing like that and one in the rear. How would you know which is bad, if it was indeed bad?

Of the 2 in the center console, one is in front of the shifter and one is at the very rear where the rear vent is. Again, they look nothing like that unit.

Sounds like you have something else going on.

Well, you are correct. It seems the issue comes from my eBay replacement LED puddle lights. I'd hate to give them up! They look really great. Wondering if I can attenuate the noise they generate so my comfort access can get back to normal. Anybody have experience with ferrite cores? It appears my LED lights are generating enough noise around the same frequency as my key fob. Anybody know what freq the keyfob works at? I've seen 315, 433 and 868 MHz for keys. I have a 2013 F30.

You could contact the FCC, as it would seem those puddle lights are defective as far as RFI regs are concerned. Alternately give these a shot, they don't bother my system, possibly because they have an aluminum body that stops RFI:

Keep all the packaging, if they do cause a problem use the Amazon 100% guaranteed return policy to send them back.
