Transmission Leak?

Hey guys... I was doing some cleaning under the car and looking around and noticed some fluid leaking from near the transmission. Not sure what this could be. Can anyone shed some light?

That looks more like an engine oil leak, since it's pretty dark. You can pull out that black rubber part where the oil is and shine a light up there to localize the source! Might be the seals from the crankshaft!

Engine oil so far back? It's behind the transmission pan. I called BMW and they said any oil leaks are covered under CPO so I'm going to bring it in. Fucking BMW's and their seals!

Oh so it's behind the pan, it looked to me like it was in the front. No in the rear of the gearbox you should not get an engine oil leak. Yeah get them to fix it! The sooner the better.

Looks like the it's coming from the torque converter area. That black cap covers the torque converter. From my understanding the torque converter helps circulate the transmission fluid

Rear main seal leaking. Covered under CPO warranty.

Just to clarify, you brought the car in with the mods list in your signature and they didn't give you any hassle for that?

Nope. I have a good relationship with my dealer. As a matter of fact they installed my CP and DP 😁

same issue

I just found the same symptom from my vehicle today while I am doing a regular oil change. I am wondering what is the source of the leak. How much cost involved to fix it?

For me it was the rear main seal. Costs to repair will vary depending on where you go.

I know you were covered under CPO but am wondering how much your dealer put on the receipt. My vehicle is out of warranty. I have to pay out of pocket and want to know much this kind of job costs before I go to a shop. According to my research, transmission should be dropped and a seal replaced.
