Strange sound when topping 3,500 RPM

Hello everyone,

I'm noticing a strange noise on my 2014 BMW F32 with N20 engine.

The sound lasts about a second and sounds metallic. The sound only occurs when the engine exceeds 3,500 rpm for the first time. After that the sound does not come back. So the sound is only heard once (very occasionally twice, when I back off the throttle after the sound came up and immediately accelerating again revving the engine back to 3,500 rpm). Then it's gone. There are no faults or notifications in iDrive and no light comes up on the dashboard.

I recorded a car ride of about 12 minutes, check here. The sound can be heard at 3:11 when the engine topped 3,500 rpm for the first time during that ride.

I checked the e-brake cable clips and they are fine.

Does anyone know what could be the cause?

Thank you,
