How to negotiate a used car dealership?

So I found the car I am looking for, but the used car dealership has it prices ~$2k above kbb. Any strategy to get them to go lower on price? I talked to the sales guy who basically said he DGAF about what kbb says...

Arguing over value is a waste of breath. Whether the car is new or used, I tell them what I am willing to pay. They usually say no, but I am prepared to leave my phone number and walk away. I tell them to call if they are interested in my offer. Often, they call. You need to give them a price that you are willing to pay, and not some low figure you want to negotiate from. If they call and give you reasons why their high price is worth considering, be polite and stick to your original number. If they lower their price to VERY near your offer, you need to decide what to do. Dealers like moving cars and hate paying flooring (loans for them to maintain inventory).

Dudes a clown. Car dealerships know the value of the car and that extra 2k goes straight to the dealer and he gets a percentage. Like others have said give him the price, he has your number if he did a good job, and on to the next one.

Best advice is to not buy a car for at least a year or two. Prices are insane and when they come down, they will drop hard.

If you're not willing to walk away from the deal, you've already lost.

Tell him your offer, leave your number, and tell him you are actively searching for a car. Up to him if he wants to sell to you or wait to negotiate with the next guy.

If he says no, then leave and who cares. If that's not your attitude, then suck it up and pay because he has won.
