Debadging Issues
Hello All,
After reading some other threads on this forum and watching some videos online, I decided to remove the xDrive badge from my 2018 340i. The badge came off easily enough using floss but the adhesive that's left over is another story. I let it soak for a couple hours with an adhesive removal gel and then went after it with a heat gun. There has been almost zero change in the adhesive. It got to the point where the clear coat surrounding the adhesive was starting to change in consistency under the heat and still the adhesive was as solid as ever. Anyone else have this issue? |

Try some GTechniq G7 adhesive/glue/tar remover. That works like a champ.
If you're really wild, goo-gone will work as well, but is a little more caustic on your paint. I used the G7 with great success and rub a short nap microfiber towel over the gooey gunk. Takes some patience and a little time. Soak it and let it set for a few then work the microfiber towel over it. Be sure to polish and protect after you do that though. I stay away from any heat guns. |

We recently got a 2020 and I debadged it with the G7. Amazon seemed to be the cheapest for the smallest bottle as well, just because I didn't want to buy a gallon of the stuff that I wouldn't use very often.
Soak the residue, grab a beer, rub residue with the microfiber towel, and repeat. Don't forget to drink the beer(s) too. |
