Wheel hub cleaning grinder
It’s nearly time to swap round winter and summer wheels and I was looking at something like this to clean the hubs
https://wjdtools.co.uk/all-products/...246526912.html Prices accross the web seem to vary from £20 to nearly £200. Has anyone got one they can recommended? What’s the difference between the cheap and expensive? TIA. |

Not expert on them but looks like the one you listed has velcro backing so cleaning pad can be replaced. Also is impact wrench attached. I always used abrasive disc on drill sort of thing or wire brush and never applied much pressure.

I just use a wire brush, and sandpaper if necessary.

I use something like these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/IELEK-Clean...%2C151&sr=8-16
Zero issues, not stupidly abrasive, but they clear all the crud out from the central bore My disc hats are still very clean/corrosion free (OEM BMW discs seem to be very good for this IMO )

The quality of the abrasive wheels will in theory be better on the more expensive ones, but the corrosion on wheel hubs is never that bad so if it's to use once or twice a year I'd just get the cheapest. If you were using it daily in a workshop then the more expensive ones would be worthwhile. I've gone through a load of grinder wheels like that on the Impreza and the 3M ones last 4-5 times longer than the average chinesium ones, with the worst lasting only a few minutes and shedding bits everywhere to boot. Drill speeds are lower than grinder speeds so that last bit is less of a concern.
