Smile Sweet USB Video/Audio setup

Found this on a UK thread, but pretty excited to get this to work. Basically with a little coding and a usb drive you can play your entire video library in a car.

to get this working you need the Nav option and then code

Enable Video Support:
HU_NBT > 3003 > API_USB_VIDEO > both
HU_NBT > 3000 > ENT_CODEC_XVID > aktiv
HU_NBT > 3000 > ENT_CODEC_VCD > aktiv
HU_NBT > 3000 > ENT_MC_VIDEO_SUPPORT > aktiv

Enable Video InMotion:
HU_NBT > 3003 >SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MIN > FF
HU_NBT > 3003 >SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MAX > FF
HU_NBT > 3003 >VIDEO_NUR_MIT_HANDBREMSE > 00

That's it for coding..
Then I found the best option is to get an SD card + a reader with usb hub combo. So my set up is a 128gb sd card .. you can get a 256 one too (ex: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820178478)

loaded it up with movies (that i already seen that way i don't get too distracted ). Even 700mb files look good on that screen, so they are usually between 700-1.4gb per file. Like someone said you can throw anything at it including 10gb mkv 1080p files it will play anything. It even pauses and resumes right where you left off. To pause it you have to press the radio power button, i havent figured out a way to zoom the picture yet (if anyone knows let me know) but it's pretty goot at zooming it as best as it can.

Then i got a usb hub here:
http://www.officemax.com/technology/...ct-prod4250516

that one works great and has small footprint, because it also adds 2 usb slots. Whatever device is plugged in first gets priority otherwise it will just charge. You can charge up to 2 devices at the same time and use the SD card. If i want to switch to phone i just pull out the card.

(other cheap adapter on ebay would stop working or constantly switch me between devices)
The first time you plug it in, it will take a minute or so for it to index all the data until it shows up. Then it remmebers it and it's instant.
Surprising it's really not that distracting to drive with a movie on as long as you seen them before you don't have to be engaged all the time, and it makes time pass a lot faster. Of course you can load it with lots of music as well

I have coded mine but it doesn't expand to full screen.

The videos on my USB are 1080p and done in 16:9 format but still will not expand to full screen.
It does expand but will not fully.
Is there an FDL coding option to activate this?

Thanks

Garage List
Under Options => Additional Options, there should be a checkbox for "Zoom mode".

Hi Shawn

When I press options on I drive I don't have the additional options menu.

Maybe it is different on NBT than CIC, but Zoom mode should be there buried in one of the sub menus.

Zoom mode is only available with DVD playback on the NBT. USB video playback cannot zoom unfortunately...

If you want a solution to this, you can always crop the video using HandBrake. It's a free video converter application for the computer, very powerful as well. However I wouldn't crop 16:9 videos to fit the iDrive screen because you would be cutting off a lot of content.

I recommend only cropping videos that are formatted 1.85:1 and 2.39:1, not 16:9 videos. The iDrive screen resolution is 1280x480, so you can crop these 720p HD videos down to that resolution or 1080p HD videos down to 1920x720 (equivalent to 1280x480) to fit on your iDrive screen.

Oh, and if you are trying to get rid of the black bars on top and below videos, HandBrake does that automatically when converting.

Good luck.

So Any video extension will play (avi, mp4, mkv etc etc)? In Rs5, it took me a long ass time to convert the videos to the specs that it would play in.

Thanks

Yes, you can use all the extensions you listed. No conversion needed.

Not sure. See if you can play a DVD in your nav while in park. If so, you most likely can.

I have done the coding and can get some videos to work, but does anybody know why some videos from iTunes will show the first frame of video as a still, but not actually play?
