440xi BRAND NEW: "Drivetrain" iDrive message. Do you know your horse's?

have you seen this on your iDrive display:

"Drivetrain: Cont. driving possible. Drive moderately. Maximum drivetrain output not available. Consult service center".

50 miles into driving it, the above message show up in the iDrive display screen.

Anything else ever get this alert message?

Bring it into the dealer. Could be a bad coil.

Why would you keep driving with that message? Car is telling you something is wrong so you should take it to the dealer. It's free!

Take it to the dealer, those messages can mean a lot of things. Wastegate had to be adjusted on our 335 at similar mileage and haven't heard a peep from it since.

The dealer will be able to diagnose the root cause after examining the stored code or codes.

My previous MY13 BMW 335i xDrive sedan also produced the same message. The problem was traced to DME programming which for a rare reason had to be done again. Never happened again.

Take the car to the dealer and then just enjoy it.

I'm at dealer now. They THINK its a DME issue.

Interesting - but nevertheless nothing to be concerned about. You will most likely get a new DME and a full programming cycle with the existing or new DME.

Please share an update once the root cause has been found.

Thanks for the update. Was the old DME replaced or retained?

I had the same problem about a year back. Ended up needing a software update, haven't had an issue since.

All I know is that your navigation screen needs to be cleaned.
