Tire Advice requested 335ix

I just installed 255/40/18 on the stock 18x8" 400m wheels in the rear. I was surprised the stock rear wheels were only 8" wide. The tire shop's computer said the tires would fit without any problems and they were right. But the computer also said I can't put 255/40/18 on the front of the 335i xdrive. Can someone confirm this information is correct? If so, then my options are stick with the 225/45/18 in the front or maybe compromise with 245/40/18 in the front. The 245/40/18 have 1.2% smaller diameter compared to the 255/40/18. Can someone please chime with your experience running different diameter tires on the 335i xdrive. Thanks for the help!

I tried to go with square winter set up 255/40/18 on my 340xi and it didn't feel right.. may be partly due to bigger front tires partly due to winter tire.. I prefer the standard staggered non-rfts just fine..

I went 245/40 18 all around on my 335i with 397 8" rims but not x drive. It has since way improved the ride and traction.
