PSA: Clean you MAF
I drive a 2012/3 F30 335i and for the two years it's been in my driveway I have to admit I haven't been in love. (56k -> 72k miles)
The car arrived with a long series of squeaks, rattles, and vibrations -- one by one I took care of them. (the hardest was figuring out the dampening weight for the AC low pressure line that was added in later 2013 builds. So... why still not loving it? The rubber band effect. I've read tons of threads from N55 drivers that complain about the car shifting slowly, rubber banding, and having bad low gear transitions at low speeds -- especially when the engine is COLD. Most threads recommend the throttle adaptation reset: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1182679 (we can all debate whether this is real or not ... I vote real) Ok, sob story over. I finally tried one more thing: CRC Mass Airflow Cleaner 2 T20 screws, one harness, 10-15 aerosol sprays, dry time, re-install. That's it. Now my car drives smoothly. It's actually fun now! It shifts from 1->2 when cold without hanging onto first gear for an extra second and half. It doesn't take half a second to respond to new throttle pulling away from a stop sign. And it cost me $6.
