Space Saver

I have a 335D M Sport plus (big blue brakes) and in my previous car (E90 330D M Sport) i purchased an official Space saver when i ditched the RFT. Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing for the F30 which will fit and does anyone have the part number?

There is 17" genuine one on flee bay. You need to ensure the rolling radius is the same as your tyres so here are you options:

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/opt...are_wheel_kits

Works out cheaper in some cases than buying OEM.

On my E92, I added the continental tyre repair kit - lighter and cheaper than a space saver. Most complain about tyre gloop being messy. However, when the tyre was replaced the gloop inside simply peeled off.

There is no under floor storage area for a spare wheel on an F30 that I can see.

I know that the car has no storage facility for carrying a space saver, however I did exactly the same in my e90 and just built a false floor over the space saver. Although I lost boot space this was not an issue as I travel 99% of the time on my own and it still left me with luggage space for two good size suitcases. I also drive at least one 180 mile journey each week and felt much safer carrying a spare wheel.

I've yet to use the gunk in 3 years of carrying it around during the winter when I have my winters on. Most tyre fitters I speak to hate the stuff and don't rate it. I am not sure if that's just because they don't like cleaning the tyres!

Probably. I asked my tyre fitters about it and they said it's fine if I have to use it, they've got a hose to clean it off with.

A 17" wheel won't fit over the blue brakes if you have them

I thought not' so it looks like being an 18" space saver then, if they do one for the F30? I will give the stealers a call during the week and ask them if one is available and post the outcome.

Officially they don't so the stealers won't be that helpful.

Does look like they sell 18" space savers for other models but don't know if they'll fit: http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/opt...are_wheel_kits

Well I have just come off the phone from BMW and the parts department have informed me that a space saver is not available for the 335d M Sport or any other X Drive car. This is due to a good reason; which is the 4 wheel Drive system could fail and any warranty would be void by using one.

Apparently the FWD system is extremely tempremental and can cause a number of faults even if the Run Flate Tyres are 2-3 mil tread different on the same axle.

So the only option is to replace all with non RFT and buy a repair kit as suggested earlier!

Even with a doughnut spare in my 2012 VW; I kept a repair kit and a compressor in the car. My commute is ~120 miles a day round-trip; so I never wanted to rely totally ont he compact spare if I could avoid it.

My old compressor is pretty close to dead though, so this along with a new compact compressor that fits under the trunk floor would be perfect for me.

They're big in the states with motorcyclists. I've got one of the kits in my car, yet to use it but good to know it's there, could potentially save buying an expensive new tyre.

spacesaver spare for F30 330d

What spacesavers can I use with my f30 330D. it is an M-sport but without teh big blue brakes. Living in Ireland you are likely to get a puncture. I've been told that "normal" 17" BMW rims wont fit because the central boss on the wheels are quite a large dia. Info, help, advice appreciated. I really want to get a spacesaver spare. TKS.

So this implies, they say it is better to run upto 200 miles with a flat tyre than using a spacsaver?
I’d have thought a flat tyre would be a more significant difference in rolling diameter.
Priceless, aren’t they?
