@canadian33 my BMW Connected Drive Subscription Agreement has the exact same section as the one Larry posted and the Remote Services shows 10 year subscription term included in the $650 Professional package but when I login to the portal, it only has 3 yr term in the same package. Is it indeed cut down to only 3 years now? Can I still go back to the dealer to purchase the Pro package and still get 10 years?

The requirements for CarPlay are as follows:

- August 2017 production date or newer
- Navigation professional (609)

- 6AK ConnectedDrive services

Hello, currently for vehicles that order ConnectedDrive Professional from factory the remote service subscription is 10 years.

For vehicles that upgrade after the fact, the term is 3 years to match the term of the other services (ARTTI, ConnectedDrive Services, concierge, etc).

Wow, that's a bit ridiculous for the price to jump 3x higher. So this is across the board? Even the dealerships go by the updated terms and don't offer 10 years anymore?

Yes, this is across the board. Not sure what you mean in terms of the price being 3x higher. ConnectedDrive Professional ordered as a standalone from factory is $500 and after the fact it is $650.

As a side note, the ConnectedDrive professional upgrade used to cost $1100 for the upgrade.

I thought it was 3x higher because the section I mention about on my BMW Connected Drive Subscription Agreement showed the expiry date of 2027 and the Professional package price was $650(not $1100) reflecting the same info as the one Larry posted.

Hey canadian33 thanks for all the info! The new ConnectedDrive page is pretty neat.
If I'm not able to login to the Remote app on my iPhone, getting the password error, am I still required to email remoteapp.password@bmwgroup.ca? Seems so odd... and not very secure emailing passwords. Do you have any tips on changing the password for the remote app? Cheers

Was able to answer my own question. Although it wasn't obvious nor mentioned the "Remote App", but half way through updating the "Primary Driver" page, there is an option to change the Account Access password. This is where one can modify the password which includes access to the Remote App.

Hello

Glad you were able to reset your password. Password resets was one of the primary use cases for the new ConnectedDrive Portal. You are able to perform a secure password reset via the portal. You can enter your username and will receive an email with a link to reset your password.

The remoteapp.password@bmwgroup.ca is a backup in case you run into any issues.

Hi canadian33 i know you said mid 2018, but any more details on that? I just ordered an F87 and expect March delivery, will connected drive be available then? Also, does my car come with the 10 years or 3 years, because the dealer said i only get traffic info for 3 years.

Hello jmh600cbr

Assuming that your vehicle has ConnectedDrive Professional, you will have traffic, news, weather, remote services and concierge for 3 years and e-call and teleservice for up to 10 years.

You will be able to use the BMW Remote App and Connected Classic apps to interact and interface with the vehicle. Then in 2018, when we introduce the new Connected App, you will be able to migrate to just using this one app. In addition to being a single app it also includes additional features and functionality.

Hope that clears it up. If you want to send me your last 7 I can confirm that your vehicle has ConnectedDrive Professional.

Yes, this is the generic language taken from the US market.
The new Connected App is not available in Canada, and won't be until the latter half of 2018.

I have already reported this to BMW AG to try and have the language changed for the Canada iTunes store.

canadian33 My car came with ConnectedDrive Essential but it also includes automatic map updates. I don't see that option listed as included service on the portal. Is there a reason why?

Knowing that any additional service subscriptions added through portal are for the maximum of 3 years, would that also force a change when existing services expire?
For instance, ConnectedDrive Essential i have will expire in 2026. If I add ARTTI for 3 year term, would that reset the expiry on all services to 2020 or only would apply for ARTTI?

I didn't order my car with ARTTI Traffic, but I thought I'd give it a try for 1 year and see what happens.

I just brought ConnectedDrive Services Professional through the portal and I can say I was amazed that it started working within half an hour. The remote app works, BMW Online works, and traffic works. Now to see how accurate the traffic info is. . .

BTW, to answer cubiza your existing ConnectedDrive Essential does not get its expiry dates reset when you buy ConnectedDrive Services Professional - it remains the same.

Actually it's not bad. The problem is that it available only for major roads and a car do not use smaller roads for a routing.

Issue is known and has been reported to BMW AG. Generally it works in the morning, but then we see outages on the drive home.

Glad you had a seamless experience. A lot of effort when in to developing the ConnectedDrive store and portal. Slowly, but surely we are reshaping what ConnectedDrive looks like in the Canadian market.

Over the air (OTA) map updates are on a 3 year subscription, and we will build the renewal into the new ConnectedDrive store which is planned for late 2018.

Services can have separate expiration dates, meaning you essential services like E-Call will expire in 2026 and ARTTI will expire in 2020.
