Hi,

I'm pretty new to car-coding (and the forums).

So the point is that I have an F36 (GC) from this september. I have coded some other stuff (chirping when opening/closing the car - handy because I hate the new don't-turn-just-push start engine button - I forgot to turn of engine a couple of times ).

So this car should have ASD right? (420d xdrive)
But I can't find it in ESYS... I have "activated" asd inside another modules CAF but I don't see an ASD module in ESYS... Or is this benzine engines only?

If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

If you are not seeing the ASD module in the SVT tree then you are not having it.

I opened my booth and I can see it there... I just don't see it when I'm trying to code

I think its just the amplifier, 20i engines doesn't have ASD. mine is 20i and its without asd, maybe ur country specs is different.

20d have no ASD.

Only 28i and 30d if iam not wrong and your country variant is equal to germany.

But if you had ASD, however you couldn´t code it to another Engine Sound because of the 2016 I Step.

if you buy the M performance ASD exhaust line, you can have ASD on 20d because I have it as well but I also don’t see the module in coding, we checked with Carly pro, there is a youtube video showing where it should be to change the coding and it’s not present.

What I think is that in my case, the ASD is only exterior sound. I don’t have the module that is connected to my speakers in interior and I think that is why I cannot find the module in coding. Although there should sill be something I suppose because in comfort mode my car is close to silent so there has to be coding somewhere in this regard... I’m trying to figure it out because I want to play with the different options as well

I don’t know why this part is not there though, is it related to fact that it is 20d or did my dealer “forget” that part or is it only available on non Diesel cars, dunno

M Performance exhaust for 20d is also with an ASD Modul but only for outside the car. Its a different ECU than the ASD for inside the car. Because the ASD3 from the M Performance exhaust is also a KCAN2 participant you should see it. ASD3 have to be coded.

Ok, so it’s installed correctly I imagine then, strange enough we didn’t see ASD module but perhaps it’s due to Carly app not seeing it
then and I should check with BMW connector instead if we can find it then. Wondering how easy or not it would be to swap out module with another module

With module you mean the ASD Ecu powering the outside "Speaker"?

ASD01 for in car you can code to other soundsets with the correct early i Step.

ASD03 for outside the car you can also code but only from 20d to 30d. In future i will try to code to i8 sound, because it uses the same ecu but is KCAN4 participant not KCAN2 like F3x.

Is there any fix to the 2016 I Step? My 2014 328i has ASD and I miss more aggressive engine sound that I had changed it to. The dealership had to upgrade my I Step to fix my A/C freezing up...

I've searched the forums to see if one of the Remote Coding options can turn back integration of a specific model, but I've come up empty handed.

U need to flash to older istep. I’ll double check which one. At least the one I heard it is. Have he module yet to do the install.

Short cut is saved on my iPad which I don’t have. Check this forum n you’ll find ur answer. But u def have to flash to older istep since the newer ones stop u from being able to change engine type

Dont know if carly see ASD. I never used it. I have Esys etc.
