BimmerTech SmartView Smart Phone Mirroring Retrofit

For sometime now I've been researching Smart Phone Mirroring solutions to use with my DashCommand App. Decided on BimmerTechs for their OEM PnP and awesome customer service reputation. After spending sometime with BimmerTech's SmartView Smartphone Mirroring Retrofit FOUND HERE (4 Series) I can honestly say it was exactly what I've been looking for! Seamless PnP and seamless integration! My opinion, they have the BEST Retrofits and Customer Service out there!

A FANTASTIC write up and install Thread can be found HERE

Thanks guys!!

Yes, I installed over 30 days ago

No, did not take photos or video to be chronicled as I felt configt did such a great job. (see link to his install/review above)

Yes, Multimedia Interface is required as SmartView WIFI unit plugs directly to it

does anyone here in the San Diego region have this unit installed?

I wouldn't mind checking it out before putting in the order.

Wonder were you install the unit.
I have both, the rear backup camera and smartview and they are on the same place; below the radio unit. The camera module gets very hot and the smartview too.
I connect the audio cable to the audio plug inside the armrest.
Very happy with the results.

Whatever App or Screen I'm in will close for incoming call. When I take call, I'll just re-open App.

Still don't get it.

Does it switch out of mirroring and into the BMW call interface?

No. My App closed and my phone screen (caller ID Screen) mirrored to Vehicle's Control Screen.

So where are you handling the call? on the phone itself or BMW's BT interface?

Cool thanks.

One of the guys from. Bimmertech will post a video of the unit's operation.

I want to see how much of a hassle it is to pair phone to the mirroring unit

Seriously... Hm. Today my wife was giving me directions from. Google maps... It would be good if I could just mirror it directly to my phone.
