Oil Pan Puncture
Heard a clinking rattle noise coming from the engine. The noise increased with RPMs then suddenly pop. The noise went away. Oil pressure warning. Looked under the oil pretty much dumped.
Then saw the puncture. attached Have to have it towed. Could this be the oil pump chain?

Pump Failure
Ok getting oil analyzed as per shop who is trying to renege on warranty.
I bought a camera to take a look and it looks like a major oil pump failure that caused the pan puncture. Can anyone help in how this failure might come about? Repair shop negligence? It's only 3 months since I got the car back from the installation of a rebuilt engine. Attached are pictures are taken by removing the oil sensor. Thank you

Oil pump chain could have snapped possibly? Whatever it is, pray the engine didnt run dry and it just needs a new pump.

so far looking like the Oil Pump was not installed correctly -
Pistons, cylinders and rods look good so far - car did not run long after the oil pressure light came on so am confident it did not run dry. Most of the oil dumped out of crack after the car was shut off. Crossing my fingers it just needs an oil pump and oil pan replacement and hoping the original shop stands by their 2-year warranty as they just installed a rebuilt engine 3 months earlier.

Geez...yeah, they should have to stand by that warranty. Up to and including complete engine/rebuild or replacement if they are the ones that put the oil pump in wrong. Any damage stemming from that should be fully their responsibility.
Of course, that is in a perfect world, and some shops will do anything to evade doing the right thing. Hopefully yours isn't one of them. Good luck.

Get an upgraded aluminum pan. I hit something in the road a while back and it jacked up the stock plastic pan, so I upgraded.
