Visual Comparo of BMW F30 3 Series vs Infiniti Q50 Sedan
BIMMERPOST NEWS Visual Comparo of BMW F30 3 Series vs Infiniti Q50 Sedan The Infiniti Q50 sedan (formerly known as the G37) made its debut at the 2013 NAIAS this week. As in previous generations, the Q50 sedan is Infiniti's answer the latest 3 Series (F30). Like the G37 that it replaces, the Q50 will be powered by a 3.7L V6 outputting 328hp / 269lb-ft (compared to the 328i at 240hp/255tq and 335i at 300hp / 300tq), powering the rear wheels (AWD optional) and paired with a 7 speed automatic transmission (paddle shifters optional). There is also a hybrid model coming. The Infiniti Q50's four-wheel independent multilink suspension is made from aluminum components, with a single pivot double wishbone design in front and multi-link design with coil springs and Dual Flow Path shock absorbers in rear. The Q50 will debut Direct Adaptive Steering technology which allows control of the tire angle as well steering inputs, transmitting driver inputs faster than a traditional mechanical steering rack. The system comes with four different modes that change not only steering effort, but also steering ratio. Enough with the technical stuff, here's how the two compare aesthetically. I don't care how much Jalopnik liked the non mechanical steering, I do not like the idea behind it. What if there is a glitch? I mean just think about how many glitches there are on your computers and phones compared to how many times your steering rack has failed on you. Hopefully BMW will not take this route.
As far as ascetics go it looks way too much like the G37, which is not a good thing IMO. The C-Pillar bugs the hell out of me. It looks like it was drawn in one-point-perspective. |

The Q50 almost looks like something you would see in the movie "Cars." A cartoon-ish front end compared to the 3er pissed off look.
The side profile (front end) of the Q is very, very similar to 3er too. Especially around the headlights Eh, I'll pass

Jesus the Asians are getting too crazy lately... First Lexus, now Infinity...
This is ugly all over (just like all the new Lexi), the interior looks like Buick or Cadillac, nothing like a Japanese Luxury automobile... Someone should be fired... PS: Thats one ugly Nissan Altima...

First off, the Q50 was clearly inspired by the F50. The side profile gives it away and so does parts of the interior.
All that being said, the Q50 is less boring and have to admit its growing on me. Better value than the F30. |

I'm a fan of the F30 but I really like what they've done with the Q50 inside and out. Only reasons why I'd still pick the F30 is 1) it is boosted and 2) I already have a G37 coupe at home. The profile of the Q does remind me a lot of the F30.

Just like the F30 the Q50 is really growing on me especially after looking at some "real" life photos like this one. The details are impressive.

Front end looks like a bloated whale.
Whats up with the stupid name change? Is Q "50" suppose to trick people to think its more high end? LOL Alan
