F31 rear dash cam mounting.
I know this has been discussed before, but I took some pics while fitting mine, and thought it may help others.
I didn't want to mount directly on the glass, due to the loop of wire that ends up between the back of the headliner, and the camera. It just looks untidy, and direct glass mounting is known to impact DAB reception, although I've not actually tested DAB performance yet. I had the rear camera mounted in the same way in my E46 Touring, and the same bracket fitted perfectly in the F31. It's just a piece of aluminium bent up to fit around the rear of the headliner. I got the idea from another forum, but don't recall which one. Here's some pics of the bracket itself, and then with the camera mounted to it. I started off routing the rear camera cable, and ended up with the plug roughly in the middle of the hatch. If you lift the rubber seal, you can see the back edge of the headliner. Then you just slide the bracket over the end of the headliner, and push the rubber seal back in place. This is what you see from the inside. Mounting the camera away from the glass does have some impact on the field of view, but it's plenty good enough to see who hits you from behind Hope it helps someone. |

I had the same bracket made for my 335 touring. In fact, i had several brackets made as it was cheaper to get a few made if anyone is wanting one. Mine is made out of steel not ally. I didn't have any issues with it effecting the dab reception.

Hi
I have just bought a 335D Xdrive Tourer can anybody sell me one of these rear dashcam mounting brackets. I am new on this forum and cannot see how to message people. I have sent a friend request to 335D TOURING XDRIVE as he seems to have made a few spare, so if you read this please let me know and happy to transfer cash into your bank account to cover the item and postage. Hope to hear from anyone e who can help. Cheers from Corsham in Wilts. |

Appreciate old thread but I am looking to fit a rear view dash cam to my F31 335d. If anyone has a spare angled roof lining mount as dipicted above, I would be happy to purchase.

That's very kind of you 335d Touring Xdrive. Without a bench vice I would imagine it could be somewhat difficult to get the bends and angles correct. If you do have one, let me know what you require in terms of payment and postage.

I'd like one too if there are any others kicking around.............
Also interested in which power / earth sources you used for the dashcam especially if they have parking mode power set up. |

I've just picked up a rear dashcam having not thought about installation until it arrived.
...and your solution looks perfect. I don't suppose there is a chance of getting hold of any more? Lee |
