Crunching sound when turning

Hi,

has someone experienced crunching noise when turning left or right while stationary or at slow speeds please? It begins to be heard after turning the steering wheel 270 degrees from the straight position of wheels. It’s always heard in the interior, sometimes outside near the front left wheel.

Top strut mounting had been replaced. After that there was silence for a while, but the noise returned after a few hours of driving. I also tried to tighten the collar bolt, but it didn’t help. The noise is not heard when car is jacked up.

Everything is OEM. It is xdrive with M Performance brakes.

Record from interior - https://files.fm/f/x7y4zz7j6

I will be glad for any advice.

Thanks

Check the wheel / hub bearing bolts. They may not be tightened down all the way…Should be 4 torx t60 or torx-plus t60 bolts.

Im speaking from experience. My X5 was creaking each time we turned the wheel, so I put it up on my ramps, got under it and had my son turn the wheel back n forth and was able to isolate it.

Thank you ooshnoo for your reply. I can try this.

I tried to tighten the collar bolt, but it didn't help.

Some members recommend to add some cooper anti seize past where the collar meets the shock, but is it really a good idea to lubricate this area?
