Rear view mirror red alarm light

Random but...

Locked the F30 tonight and the red light RAPIDLY flashed then after a few seconds slows down to the usual (2-3 seconds) flash. Can’t recall this happening in the last 5 years so repeated but exactly the same. Thought it might be turning off the movement sensors but doing that puts the red light on “permanent” for a couple of seconds.

Mate’s 1 series is the constant 2-3 seconds flash on locking.

Any ideas? A sensor needs replacing? Remote battery?

Thanks in advance.

One of your sensors isn't able to confirm all windows, door, boot and bonnet are shut.

Open them all and re close.

See if it does it again, if it does you might need a new sensor...but then you will need to find which one...

Had the same on mine when charging the battery as the bonnet was open. Check all the above as stated.

Cheers! Everything’s closed so looks like it’s a sensor. Timely as it’s booked in for oil service middle of the month.

Maybe use the Connected Drive app.

It will tell you which window/door or bonnet/boot it thinks is not closed.

Presume I would need to subscribe to this? I’m sure my connected service expired a few years back.

If you were ever subscribed and can remember your password, just try it.

The app for the Feb/March 2017 car I have now was still working some 8 months after it's third birthday. At that point, I renewed the map update on a black friday special.
So it's still working now.

Of course, they may use one of these logging systems, that if an account hasn't been accessed for a while, it gets deleted.
