Well my 420d had this issue yesterday. I drove 100meters and it gave me the drive train warning and started to chug and clunk with no power.
Sat there for 5minutes restarted and it moved OK. I have noticed abit of power loss when I accelerate or sluggish I should say. The car is being recalled for the egr value. I'm. Hoping it's something to do with that. The car is only 2 years OK with 18k on the clock. Anyone got any tips or advice or anything really to help put my mind at rest. |

I got this a while back and parked up the car until it was brought to my nearest dealership on a flatbed for the EGR check. It was checked over and given the all clear and the EGR wasn’t changed. Got the error again today for the first time since and cleared it with BimmerLink. Also checked the DPF with bimmerlink and the soot level is at 75g. I know it’s very high and it needs a clear out and it’s possibly causing the drivetrain error.
Problem is that BimmerLink's DPF regen isn't working. Last edited by MetzgerMeister; 10-29-2019 at 07:33 AM.. |

This error seems to cover a multitude of sins. When driving on a dual carriageway I got it on my MY12 F30 328i (which was a complete lemon of a car anyway!) and the car would then not go over 50mph. Drove it to dealership who investigated and concluded that it was down to excessive boost pressure (car was stock)

Mine went in to the dealer yesterday, same issue; I've had the EGR valve and egr cooler replaced. Mine happens on start up from cold about once a week and clears after 10-15mins. The BMW tech suggests it could be an air flow/mixture issue..... has listed out a list of parts he recommends changing to see if that clears it up.... but it does seem like a punt....for £700!
So I may by some of the parts and try to replace one by one... some of the hoses are harder to get at than others; two behind the manifold I'm told. For those stumbling upon this post you may find this link useful for more detail on the parts listed: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_5091 AND sorry for bad placement of thumb, part number for those pressure regulators are 11658509323 (B11.65.8.509.323) B10204 PRESS.REGUL Last edited by Dizzle; 06-29-2020 at 09:21 AM.. |

Same thing happened to me on a cold start at work last year. Turned car off and on again (the old "Dixons trick" ) and it was fine. Happened once more after that where again the fault cleared quickly.
In the time since it's been for the EGR recall where they checked everything was OK (apparently didn't need an updated EGR valve even though they asked for the car twice in the year - fine by me as it cost me nothing) but I haven't had this issue at all after they had it.

Same error, happened to me. Did not go into limp mode. I switched car on and off. Not had a return yet and it has been over a year. I would just wait and see if you get it again. If the car is running OK, I would just wait and see.

UPDATE
I went ahead I purchased two pressure sensors from AutoDoc, I paid £65 a piece, replacement them on the drive, both are tucked near to the intake manifold.....so far so good! Hope this may help others. image below shows the old ones still in place. |

F30 335D Drive train error and loss of power
Hi,
So I've recently bought a F30 335D and it has had loss of power a few times - this was fixed by restarting the car. However today, I got a drivetrain error message and now the car has reduced power and is essentially in limp mode. Has anyone experienced this and knows how to correct the issues? |

get diag done...
look for error: 252500 as with the above posts, it will most likely be the pressure converters (could be somthing else, but i would guess pressure converters)... Mine went pop after i took it the Muppet shop (thats Cotswold Dealer for the EGR Recall last year) Take a read: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2005683 |
