Convenient point. Since Android 11 uses BimmerLink etc., if you activate BT in the connection settings, it will be active forever. You don't have to activate it every time like Android 10.

I bought a BMW android head unit. Snapdragon 662 chipset. Currently, the back camera is not displayed due to a malfunction of the MCU. Can anyone provide me with an MCU?

Only your seller can. These 662 units are too young for us to have a decent archive of MCUs and firmware files. Besides quite a lot of stuff is still buggy on these screens so you might need to wait a bit longer to get them sorted.

I've ordered an Android '11' unit. I did not do my due diligence and locate this thread beforehand...

So, this is the unit I've ordered:

It states rockchip processor, after reading up I'm doubting my choice as it seems snapdragon is the favoured chip.

I've found another unit that states it has snapdragon chip:

Should I cut my potential losses and send my one straight back and order the latter one? Or try it out anyway, it may be decent and the other unit may be fake anyway?


Also, has anyone anywhere actually fitted one of the 12 inchers? Can't seem to find any evidence / reviews

It's hard to tell what exactly the first one is. These descriptions are somewhat generic and not very helpful, true it mentions Rockchip but doesn't explain anything. UI picture would indicate that this is SD625/662 unit, but again this is just a speculation. I would wait as see what actually arrives in the post but be ready to send it back.

This don’t even sound right. Sold you a screen and backup camera doesn’t work? And they cant send you a copy of the MCU to remedy it? Sounds suspect. On both ends. What seller is this, so others can be on lookout/compare ?

Who here has experienced the 8GB/256GB Units especially when compared to previous versions? Is it significantly faster/smoother?

I see familiar brands like Mekede and Navifly has joined the Android 11 market on AliExpress.

Ive also seen some sellers offering 5G LTE but it could be fraudulent, who knows.

So my unit arrive in the mail today. so far so good. Stable with android 11.

Quick Questoin, For the UI configutaion, Do i need to get the files from my supplier? Avin in my case or is there an alternative source i can get them from?

I changed android 11 back to android 10. Even if RAM becomes 8G of DDR4, there is no feeling that it has become faster. I didn't see the benefit of being an A11, partly due to the forced termination of the app.

Android 10 units are not and won't be upgradable to Android 11 for hardware and marketing reasons... mostly marketing reasons.

It was confirmed by one of the main suppliers that A10 to A11 will never be possible. So I guess we can put this one to rest.

After receiving the tracking number for my order a few days ago, I decided to look it up and see how long I'd have to wait. It hasn't left the supplier yet... I messaged them in the hope they gave me the wrong tracking number, instead they said my unit is still waiting to be tested and will be sent after, not giving me anymore information on what tests or timescale and just insisting I wait patiently. If there's no update in a few days I'll be cancelling my order I think

I received my new Android 11 headunit on the 10th September from AvinUsa. So far I'm pleased with now having carplay in my 2015 F15 X5 and having access to many Android apps. Installation was straight forward as I had previously fitted one to my 2008 E70 X5. Sound quality is better than I thought it would be but, as there has to be a but lol. I'm having a problem with a notification stating " Serial console enabled. Performance is impacted. To disable, check bootloader".
I've factory reset and reinstalled the software provided by Avin but still I have this notification. I know enough about installing updates on Android to know that it doesn't affect the bootloader settings, But I was hopeful lol. Is anybody aware of how I can get this "console" disabled as I do not want to have to remove the unit and return it unless I really have to. Thanks in advance.

While I can't answer your question, I have some other questions of my own, like:
What launcher is AVIN using? ID7 or their custom launcher?
When using CarPlay, are you connected to OEM BT or not?
Can Android side Waze notifications be heard when using OEM Radio ?
Is everything considerably better over previous unit aside from problem at hand?
Is they unit ALS or dGS?

I actually tried to order from AVIN Monday. They said they sold out. So I ordered from Navifly on AliExpress. I'll keep the forum updated as well. Navifly says they units are dGS so we'll see how that turns out.
